The stock windshield on my K11Lt always felt a little short to me, but not really a big deal.

I thought I might look into a Cee Baily Euro replacement. To determine the correct height of the new shield, I taped a piece of 3" cardboard to my shield with 1 1/2" packing tape and went for a ride. Well, I didn't notice much of a difference, so I decided to shelve the idea.

That's when I ran into a problem. It was late so I removed the cardboard in the morning and the glue from the packing tape ate through the coating of the shield! I thought that it was just glue residue, but it actually ate through the coating ruining the shield.

So fate has me searching for another shield.

Can you tell me if anyone has used an aftermarket sheild? What are your opinions and /suggestions.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thank you,
Ragman

I have the stock shield yet on my '97, and what looks to be a +2" smoked shield on the '95. It was on the bike when I got it so I can't say where it came from or what brand it is.

There was a NOS shield on e-bay just a couple of weeks ago, went for a decent price too. Keep looking, you'll find one.

Hi, Ragman,
A few years ago I saw a K1100LT in a dealer's (used) showroom. It had a taller windshield - maybe 3'', 4'', whatever. I sat on the bike and was looking through the windshield (at its lowest position), not over it. I am 5'9" tall. If you want to look through the windshield, fine. But unless you are well over 6' tall, I don't think you'll be looking over the windshield if you find a taller one. I don't know who makes them - maybe Cee Bailey, maybe Parabellum. Good Luck!

If you are looking for a stock windshield, I might be able to help. The K75RT with electric windshield uses the same parts as the K1100LT. Max lists a new windshield at just over $400. I have a brand new K75RT/K1100LT windshield in my garage. I don't particularly want to sell it, but I would for the right offer.

I'm 6-2 and a Parabellum +4 is perfect for me and has me looking over the screen with virtually no turbulence, even riding without a helmet. In the recent past I've been running a CB supposedly +4 Euro that's about half an inch shorter than the Parabellum. I think the Euro shape tends to create more eddy/vortex turbulence off of the "ears" as it's definitely not as quite/peaceful as the Parabellum.

The other thing about a smoked Euro is that riding at night in the dark it will definitely mess with your line of sight doing twisties and looking through turns with the bike leaned over. Took me a while to get used to that and it still isn't ideal.

I think one of the HUGE advantages of having a smoked/colored windscreen is that I feel much more safe when it's parallel parked behind a car as that gives the idiot backing up something to see. That's really the main reason why I haven't gone back to the Parabellum which I still have. Oh yeah, and the smoked Euro looks cooler too.

+1 on the +4 parabellum Euro cut.

Ride another bike for a while and you will really appreciate the low turbulence on the LT. It's pretty much a vacuum in there. Razz

The Standard Screen gave me turbulance around my head, I had a screen made up 2 inches higher, and that made all the difference, I got it from Munich Motorcycles in Aus, not that it will help you.

I went with the +2 standard cut parabellum and I'm pretty happy with it.

The one difference it makes for me (I'm 5'11") is the adjustability. Either down all the way or up almost all the way are the only useful positions. I used to mess with the height more with the stock screen. But down all the way provides good coverage but still allows for great visibiity and some cool wind to the face (although there is hardly any buffeting) and up 95% of the way or more pretty much blocks all wind (and quite often rain).

Parabellum makes a good screen. I did have to send my first one back due to an optical distortion in the plastic. The replacement screen was flawless and I've had it on the bike for at least 5 years. I'm careful never to clean it with gas station fluid (even if it's just water) anymore. That ruined the stock screen over the years. I use Plexus exclusively now along with a microfiber cloth.

Monday morning I was just going to order a CB +2 when I received an email with an almost new CB+2 at a good price, so I bought it.

I don't know if it's a standard or EURO. It will arrive tomorrow. I will post my findings.

Thank you all for for your inputs!

Same here. They were very good about it although I did have to prod them to get reimbursed for my return shipping cost.
