Very nice. From low mile bike. No dings in fins. Was saving it to put in one of my bikes but decided it's not worth the effort for the climate I live in.
$200 shipped to continental US. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have seen posts about installing a 3 core in a bike similar to mine but never read about it in detail.
Much to be modified to make it work?
I'm interested- Cathy is probably tired of my complaints.

Its pretty straightforward. Cut off the lower left mounting bracket on the fan. There's several posts on others who have done it. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Hey John,
I will pm you when I get home tonight a little write up of what I did when I switched mine out. Most people have to cut a little bit off the fan motor cover so it doesn't hit the airbox but for some reason I didn't have to do that. _________________ Rich

John - Larry (lrome) has a good write up - for the LT, I think. You don't have to cut anything (on the LT), just move the brackets on the radiator - the RS might be different... _________________ Jim

I thought one fellow said it didn't lower the operation temperature at all. That was due to the thermostat. _________________ 1993 K1100LT

That's correct. What it does is allow the cooling system to dissipate heat better. I don't think you'd want to lower the operating temperature anyhow as the engine is designed to run at the operating temperature established by the thermostat. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

SOO.... does the rider feel any difference, ie the tank or tupperware? Do they run any cooler?
I have a 3 core on my shelf, and after hearing about the temp not running cooler, I've just been putting up with the heat.
I do have the "Johnny blanket and the manual fan switch" they have helped a lot.
What should I expect of the 3 core radiator?
thanks, _________________ 1993 K1100LT

It won't heat up as fast - and it will cool down faster than a two core. That's my experience. If you have a fan switch and can run the fan manually or automatically, it hopefully won't heat up past the midpoint on the gauge. _________________ Jim

Took the bike out for a ride yesterday - first time I've had it out in sub 40º F weather since I installed the three core. It never got up to what I consider operating temperature - and the mpg suffered. Seemed to be running at about 150º - 160º - I think it probably wants minimum 185º. Now I need to add a set of shutters like the old Volvo's used to have...
Actually, if I end up riding it much, I'll probably partially block the radiator with some corrugated plastic signboard. _________________ Jim

Jim, so is your thermostat also sticking open? I thougt that was more the temp "controller" for the water temp, more than the radiator.
The rad only cools the water once the t-stat is open? or am I missing something. _________________ Ride safe.

Scott - I don't think it is. Looks like there is some kind of bypass on the cooling system - like not all the coolant has to pass through the thermostat as it circulates. I suppose the thermostat could have failed... _________________ Jim
