|
|
Has anybody installed or used one of the BMW Universal Bright Brake Light Kit (63210419461)? It was not too difficult to install, very straight forward. However it is not working right. The kit goes off the battery to a four plug to the rear, then two wires onto the brake and running light bulbs. It is supposed to be on with the running light, then when the brake is on flash 4 times and go solid until the brake is off.
The problem is it is suck on bright. I even disconnected the running light/brake lights and it is still just on??? When it connected it does not flash or change with the brake on. My running light and brake work the same. I pulled the fuse out of it for now. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.. _________________ Had-K75S, K1100LT, R1100GS, K75S, R90S/6, R1200C, R1100S, R100S. And now 96 K1100RS (SE). |

Good sound advise. I thought about that last night. The BMW gel locks were not making contact with the rear wires. This is the one in the above link. The light is very bright and when the brake is on, flashes very fast then is brighter. This should help with the too close drivers. _________________ Had-K75S, K1100LT, R1100GS, K75S, R90S/6, R1200C, R1100S, R100S. And now 96 K1100RS (SE). |

| This looks like a good modification from what you all say here, plus it appears to be BMW Official for all the purists in the midst.... |

The other night here in CA, one of the CHP BMW's and one on it. The running light LED was bright, i could see his bike better than the other cars in traffic when he was real far away.
The flip side to that, at night the CHP can see me real well also. _________________ Had-K75S, K1100LT, R1100GS, K75S, R90S/6, R1200C, R1100S, R100S. And now 96 K1100RS (SE). |

People tell me the brake light is stuck on on my F800GS all the time. It's barely over a year old. But it's got an LED brake light. And on many of these twisties, our groups often travel at a pace where I really don't need to use my brakes much.
I like that it's VERY noticeable. If the cops notice me, so be it. I'd rather get a ticket than be flattened by a semi truck. _________________ M N B

The stock rear lighting on these bikes is abysmal. When I picked up my most recent K-LT at Santa Cruz BMW my g/f followed me down to Carmel, where we stayed for the night. She freaked out at how poorly lit the rear of the bike was - said that I just disappeared when I was more than a couple hundred yards ahead of her and totally blended into the other traffic when we were on a 4-lane. Needless to say, the Hyperlites were on order as soon as I got home. I will probably also order some of those reflective 3M film panels for the bags also. _________________ 2012 R1200RT Midnight Blue

Same here.
Hyperlites, Run-N-Lites, on both bikes and the 3M panels on the '95 at this point.
Oh, and the Vision or Icon Hi-Vis vest for me. That makes her a little happier. _________________ Ride safe.

Have 3 sets of Steve's lights on their way here (for all 3 bikes), need to do bright taillight/brakelights on all 3 also.
AND (BIG concession to life and limb) looks like a yellow ff helmet for this coming season _________________ John & Cathy
