Well it happened and I am
After my late fall misadventure- getting lost 90 minutes from home and Cathy calling me with no answer then wondering where I was as it got dark- the HL hostess decided that some $$ spent is worth getting me home after a ride. Zumo 550
But holee electrons Batman, this thing does it all. Directions, music, wireless phone answer, car and bike mounts, power hook-ups for both, and stuff I haven't discovered yet.
THANK YOU (Santa) Cathy. _________________ John & Cathy

The 550 isn't cheap, but it's a very nice unit. IMO, well worth the coin. I LOVE mine. I use it as an MP3 constantly and the GPS part does a good job. I'm very happy with the unit and Garmin's Customer Service is awesome. They really take care of you there. Or at least I've had good luck the three times I've needed them.
But don't panic... those occasions were:
1) I lost the security screwdriver. Wanted to order a new one. Not on the web site. Emailed asking about how to order. 5 days later, one arrived in the mail, free of charge.
2) the magnetic rubber cap fell off the mount. Not on the site. Emailed about how to order. 5 days later, a free one arrived in the mail.
3) the + button fell out on a ride (I use it alot to skip to next song) after 2 years of owning it. Figured I could install a replacement, but the part wasn't on the site. Emailed them. They wouldn't give me the part, but they sent me a refurb free of charge. It was out of warranty at that point.
I got the lifetime maps update for it. Once you get a few updates it's paid for itself.
Enjoy your zumo! It deals with all that navigation crap so you can just enjoy the ride! _________________ M N B

Good morning John....
So,,, you got Zumi'ed eh.? Well, I've NEVER been lost, but despite that I somehow got NĂ¼vi'ed .. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that yours does, but being deaf it seems just right for me. I guess now both of us are free to 'get lost' whenever we want !
Enjoy the day,,,,,,,,,,,,,// Ernie-NH _________________ AMA,, American Deaf Bikers

I replaced my security screw with a thumbscrew, figured I'm more likely to take the Zumo off the bike if I don't have to mess with the security screw. Can't remember where I got it, somewhere on the web.

I wound up removing the screw. I always remove the GPS when not on the bike. As a result, it's never been stolen. It takes 2 seconds to snap it back into the mount. _________________ M N B

Grats John, ya lucky bastaige.
*Edit you married well....in more ways than one. If I mentioned to Paula that I wanted a 6-700 dollar GPS for my moto she would kick my ass then laugh in my face. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006
