I have the bike torn apart for winter except that I have not removed the ABS in front of the starter. I have 45000 miles on my 94 k11. Would you take the time to remove the ABS and clean the starter with this mileage? I have not read about any k11s only cleaning the k100s.

Same starter on K75s, K100 and K1100. I wouldn't bother at 45k. (Even if I didn't have to remove the ABS.)

Thanks Drake. That's what I needed to know. Appreciate your input.
On to the rear splines!

Hi, Garydi,
The rear splines on the paralever bikes don't usually give problems. What do break are the paralever bearings. Both Tom Cutter and Ted Porter sell bushings which replace the paralever bearings and which hold up much better than the rather fragile bearings.

Phil, I only have 45000 on this bike. The paralever bearings don't feel loose. Would you still replace them at this mileage?

Hi,
If you remove the paralever bearings, I would replace them with bushings. That said, I wouldn't take the thing apart just to grease the splines. You almost never hear of paralever splines (driveshaft to final drive) going bad. I'd wait until I thought there was a problem (hello, skdonlan) or I was going to do a clutch spline lube. Then I'd do it all at one time. Remember, my advice is free, so you know what it's worth!
