Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem) What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butt - doing drugs, while I work. Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.
Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though. Something has to change in this country -- and soon!!!!!!! _________________ 1993 K1100LT/On going project

1. Sounds good.
2. Now, should we require that all gun owners pass a breathalyzer test before they can chamber a round?
Seriously, I have no problem with the first idea. And I am a gun owner. But if there were a practical way to enforce the second idea, I'd be for that as well. I suspect, however, that many NRA-types would regard the second idea as "government intrusion." _________________ tlp

Nobody has to pass a urine test to work, they submit to one.
For every deadbeat drug addict on welfare, how many do you think are there because of divorce, widowhood, catastrophic illness? Ask yourself if it could happen to you. _________________ Jim

Very true, however in our system we need to pander to the lowest common denominator.
A person with a true need for support that wants to get back on his/her feet should have no problem submitting to a drug screen, no? _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Dave, I guess I wasn't reacting quite so much to the drug screen itself but the implication or presumption that most would fail it. _________________ Jim

You have a little more hope for humans than I do Jim.
And yes, I would pass except for a cigar or two. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Also sounds good, but who would set the bar?
And I guess I sometimes wonder if intelligence is overated. It seems our world would benefit from more compassion, understanding and wisdom.
