I don't mean to single out Endoman but what if he never showed up again? Wouldn't you wonder what happened to him?

Does anyone else think it would be a nice gesture to ask a friend to post a thread for us if something happened to us, whether or not motorcycle related, so that other members would know? What would be so hard about that?

I just kinda took it for granted that someone in the know would post when they knew if or when that fatefull day came.

I sign in almost everyday and read what everyone is doing, My life is boring I just ride to work and back on my K1100RS . Except for the last week I'm waiting for my rear brake pads to get here, They should be here
by friday. Last thursday I heard an pulsating sound and I thought the worst, But upon inspection my brake pads are paper thin and my rear rotor is worn and needs replacing but I can get by with just changing the pads this time, But I do need to keep an eye out for a good used rotor I check at bikebandit and a new one is $440.00
at Re-Cycle they have a used one for 100.00 off a 1994 R1100RS and they said it will fit my 1993 K1100RS, but they have a no return policy
So I think I'll Keep looking. I have time Very Happy

I'll always be here Cool I love this group, I've seen a lot of nice
pictures and read some nice stories Very Happy I just go to work and back and have not much to say like everyone else. except maybe it has rained everyday here for the last few months Sad

Hey Endoman, I didn't mean to be morbid. I hadn't seen your name for a while and got thinking this is a weird kind of group where we become familiar with people because of how they write and in most cases don't really know much about them. If something happened to me I would want this group to know.

I didn't think it was morbid at all. Cool I'm just glad somebody missed me Very Happy Very Happy . I'm just not as knowing about the k bikes like everyone here is. I'm terrified that soon I'll need to do my spline lube and I'm afraid to tackle it myself. I know I can do it, just need to stop worring about it and do it.. Shocked
I'm very mechanically inclined hell I even pulled the front wheel drive transmission out of my Taurus and had it rebuilt and put it back in. But for some reason the k-bike makes me second guess myself.. Wierd huh Shocked
I asked my wife that if something ever happend to me she would let the forum know.

You're not alone. Even though I'd done all of my own vehicle work all my life, there was something about tearing into a K bike the first time that was for some reason intimidating. You just need to get over that hump and dig in.

Same here.
I've torn down and rebuild at least 1/2 doz V-8 motors, a 4cyl forklift motor, and even gutted a tractor tranny for some casting repairs and re-assembled.(even still runs to this day).
But I wan't about to pull the head off of the '97 last year.
Would I do it today? Most likely I would.

In fact just tonight I swapped the exhaust from the '97 to the '95 for the HL trip at the end of the month. 2 header pipes broke on the '95.

Go for it Endoman
Once you get into the K's they are not hard, some of the bolts are a pain to undo and can if not careful round out (water pump) but they are easy to work on, much better that trying to strip a Jap multi down.

The only problem is if removing the gearbox as the center stand is bolted to it, you need to make a stand to go under the rear of the bike.

I have just had mine apart to repair the output shaft, all went back together in basically a day (day and a half but I did cock up by blowing the gear selector switch and had to change it)

I have an limited space too, only a single garage (JUST wide enough to put a car in) with racking down one side, I do have a compressor and some air tools but its just your avaerage tool kit otherwise.

Have a go, you wont regret it, I had the BIGGEST grin on my face when I hit the start button and the knock had gone from my bike (I think I also shouted "YES" with my fist in the air) such a sense of achievment.

The key to getting bolts out is to use GOOD Allen wrenches (like the Heyco ones in the factory toolkit) and making sure they're fully seated before breaking the bolts. For the water pump and transmission to bellhousing bolts, those are prone to collecting road grime. Clean out the bolt head with a dental pick or something so you can get the Allen wrench fully seated before attempting to break the bolt.

I do have a good set of allen keys and make sure they are seated but the heads seem a little soft, if they do round off its easy to drill the head off using a drill just bigger than the shaft dia and then remove the remaining shaft when the part is off, thats what I did.
