Hey all,

Just thought I'd share some pictures from my trip to Phuket in Thailand for the annual Phuket Bike Week earlier this year. Just in case you're not familiar with the festival, it's very similar to an Asian version of Sturgis Smile

Thousands of bikers gather on the island during this time. Some will ride over from other countries on our bikes, some even fly or ship their bikes in and then ride around for that week.

This year there were bikers from Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Germany, UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and of course Thailand at PBW 2009. In addition to the numerous parties, there are also bike shows, beauty contests, custom bike contests...and a lot of beer. It's like an Asian Oktoberfest too!

This year's PBW also coincided with the annual Thai 'Songkran' or water festival, where everyone gets soaked to the skin as part of a cleansing ritual. Great fun!

Anyway, here are some bike pictures from this year's event, hope you like them Smile

Cheers!
Chris

Hahaha! Yessir, and that was not the second one delivered to that table (note the empty one) it was about the fifth I think....yee haa Razz

No, those were not ladyboys, I'll post a picture of a real ladyboy, if the forum allows it. Although, you're right, some of them LB's are stunning, but a trained eye will be able to spot the difference...however, that ability diminishes in correlation with the amount of alcohol consumed...many have found out the hard way...LOL!!!!!!!!! Sorry... Wink

It's pronounced exactly the way it's spelled - Song-kran Smile

Chris

This is a guy...scary huh? Razz

Also a guy, and the one in yellow behind her too....I meant behind HIM.

Chris, is Song-Kran in Phuket a giant water fight in like it is in Bangkok? (I've been to Bangkok twice during Song-Kran. Had a great time.)

Where to begin, when I first went to Thailand in 72 there was no thought given to motorcycles. In 73 that changed some but all you saw was 750's up North. I was there in a time when most of you were still playing with building blocks. Would love to go back to ride bikes in the land of beauty, heaven knows I could never go back to the times of the early 70's and raise hell. A person has to know their limitations. Very Happy

Exactly right! I bought myself a huge water gun, a Super Soaker 3000 or something like that, got absolutely drenched. Some don't even bother with water guns and come equipped with water hoses, buckets, etc. It was brilliant Smile

It's supposed to be a ritual 'cleansing' to wash away the bad luck of the previous year, but it has become just a mega water fight as you mentioned. Hahahaha!

Secret Song-Kran tip:

Sit near the bar. Give the bartender a few extra Bhat. Refill from behind the bar with ICE WATER.

great pics chris. So how does the 'trained eye' spot the difference or is that something which can't be shared? I guess no training is required sooner or later..
