At the moment, I'm using my GPS mounted to the spare hole by the clutch lever, on my RS. Thing is, I don't like it there as it causes too much turbulence round my lid, so I'm looking for an alternative.
I heard mention of something called a "dash bar" which mounts behind the top of the screen. This is interesting, but I'm buggered if I can find anything about it!
Anyone have any useful links, or info, please? _________________ Fr Jack

Hallo,
I've mounted the gps by removing a small part of the plastic cover (left side) and mounting a ram mount. Gps is nicely in the centre with minimum damage to the bike.
I'll try to post some pictures.

I have basically the same set-up as Jo. I have a different GPS and choose a longer arm to raise my GPS up higher (into my field of view). This works great on my LT with a tall windshield. I also I like this option since it does not require cutting holes in the dash.
RAM mounts are fantastic! I also have them in my truck and even on my bicycle.

They also have a camera mount, etc. _________________ "Still can't find 6th gear" 94 K1100LT |

I'm pretty happy with my gps in my pocket and listening to it on helmet speakers. Every setup I've seen it looks like the gps dominates your view of the bike while riding. _________________ Jim

I'm using the same setup, but with the ball bolted to the spare hole on the clutch side. I'll have a look at the bar cover, and maybe get the Dremel-alike to it.
Would you be able to send me a pic of the clamp and cover (without the GPS) from above, please? It would help me judge how much of the cover to remove.
TIA. _________________ Fr Jack

I guess I should swap the RS for an LT, then? _________________ Fr Jack

Even if I found some ear buds that stay in place (without costing £50++), I still find that a quick glance helps in European towns, which can have a couple of streets extremely close to where the GPS is telling you to go.
I've been caught out more than once, even here in the UK. _________________ Fr Jack

I guess the GPS holder Touratech-made. Is that arm Touratech-made, too?
If Yes, where can I get it?
This is my poor arm.

I bent the arm myself using a 12.7mm aluminum rod, some pieces of wood to bend with without marring the aluminum and a lot of muscle and grunting. It took me 3 tries to get the one I liked. _________________ Rich

i always wondered what purpose that large screw on the "arms" around the shield on the k11rs were for ... guess i know now.
i'm looking into getting a palm pre and using it as the gps. so far i haven't found a particularly nice car mount that will be mod-able to fit the bike. hopefully i can find something. _________________ (formerly) 1993 k1100rs |

The large screw are not for mounting things, they lock the spoiler at different angles, if you undo them you can move it to change the airflow.

Devices not intended for motorcycles often can't handle the vibration if hard mounted. Particularly prone to failure are the connections around spealers and output jacks. DAMHIK. _________________ Jim

Hi Frjack
As promised the photo's of the gps mount.
It looks as if I need to find the time to wash the bike but the pictures give a good idea.
The big black nob is a lock so they can't take the cradle and ram mount.
