|
|
Hi Gang,
Is there a way to clean out and regrease the tapered pivot bearings on the rear fork? I think the ones on the K100 can use it and I don't want to replace them at $60 each.
Thanks, _________________ Rich

I put the bushings on my K1100 when I did the spline lube. This time I didn't want to spend the bucks and I think the bearings are fine. I just want to get some clean grease into them. _________________ Rich

I think you will find they fall apart when you take the final drive off. The bushings are much better. If you just want to grease them, the inner race, and the outer race should come apart when you remove the final drive, then you can just grease them like wheel bearings. (put grease in your palm, and rotate them into it, pushing it through the bearings).

On both bikes when I took them apart they didn't fall apart and when I tried to pull the bearing from the race put as much pressure as I thought safe without possibly damaging them and they still did not come apart. Are they meant to come apart like the stearing bearings are? _________________ Rich
