After I got the bike back together the other day (1996 K1100RS) the gear indicator was not working. Everything else was working fine. Where is the indicator get it's signal from? _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!

From the gear position switch located on the ear end of the transmission. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

I assume you have confirmed that you plugged it back in? The connector is on the right side of the frame near the fuel pump connection. _________________ Jeff

Ah..do not assume for you make ass out of me and you
BUT I was in that area maybe I pulled the connector apart. Ad I had no idea there was a connector for it. I do now. I am no where near my bike today. I'll have to check it tomorrow when I get back to Vermont. I am in the cage this weekend. I missed a good day of riding today here in Connecticut. Thanks for the info. _________________ "Badges? Checked the connector, cleaned it up a little and turned power on. Nothing. Fiddled with it some more and then da heck with it. I'll look at it later.
Got ready to ride, jumped on, started, no indicator and then I moved a couple inches and on it came.
Last month at the Charter Oak rally the instrument cluster got damp and the indicator was flickering around, on, off, 5 when I was in first, 1 when I was 3rd etc, etc. After awhile it settled down. I assume it dried out.
Maybe I am losing it...? _________________ "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges"!
