Hi Guys,
New user  .
Where should I look??? My 250 V Twin did 250klm for 10L, I knew this would use more fuel, but expected approx 20klm per litre.
Brake drag? Discs seem a little loose(but not sure what to expect here, neither wheel spins much when spinning by hand, some noise from the front) Sparkies? Injectors?
Any and all input appreciated.

Hi
Thats about what i get from my LT, fuel warning light comes on at around 150 miles and takes 17-18 litres to fill.
I do a mix of riding, fast motorway (90mph+) to city crawling.
On my old RS i had it was about 200 miles per tank but the LT does have a Big Barn Door of a fairing.

Hello!
Good fuel consumption statistics can be found on http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/ - use search.
IMHO mentioned value is waaaaay to big. Check the CO level in exhaust fumes.
And give us more info about your bike.

His fuel consumption works out at 33mpg (uk) about the same as mine so not to far out, the exhaust on mine is white not black so i know its not running rich, don't forget you have an RS with a lot less fairing than the LT and the gearing will be higher on the RS so less rev's to speed.
How are you running the bike kkjkeane? loaded, screen up down, fast riding? all will make a differance to the MPG.

i do 18 liters for 200 miles
or
18 liters for 300 km...
that is REAL nice....
BMW given values is 1 liter for 19 km (at 90 km / h)
(this is the new value)
When you start to use MUCH more, you might have some faulty sensors of vacuum leaks.
Personally i think you are running to rich (unless you are a full on racer?) |

G'day
18ltrs for 200k seems to be very excessive. (I get better than that towing a trailer).
Check you throttle position sensor and get the throttle bodies synced. Thats the start. See what happens from there.
If you are not sure how to do this, see Motohansa in Sydney.

Thanks for the replies.
I ride with the screen in a variety of positions depending on the ambient air temperature.
I have not done any long trips, mostly riding to work 7klm away (hence the requirement of something with more go than a 250  ). Dont think I have exceeded 110km/h, mostly 60km/h. Not too much racing off from the lights.
Think I might ride over to Motohansa, as they are only 1 litre away from here. Hopefully can help me get that down to .5 litre.

Hey mate welcome to the forum from a southern neighbor,
The K1100LT's fuel consumption depends greatly on the type of riding. This was new to me coming from a 200cc bike which sipped petrol no matter how many beans i gave it. On long country rides at freeway speeds to loss of license I get about 5-6L per 100km. For around town riding and start stop Sydney traffic consumption is a lot more reaching around 10L per 100km. Take the weapon for a blast on the open road and see what you get. That's what shes built for and you may be surprised at the difference.
