Does anyone make LED parking light? Now that I have the higher wattage bulb with the EB relays....the parking light looks sickly yellow.
Thanks,
Joe |

I run rear LED parking lights on my bikes. But you have to eliminate the Bulb Monitor Unit (BMU) because it will not be happy with an LED bulb. At least in the US, you need to run a white parking light so that your license plate illumination is white. Using a white (instead of red) LED causes the light through the lens to ba a bit pink.
Eliminating the BMU: http://www.k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5964
It's probably not a good idea to run a front LED parking light because the heat generated by the headlight bulb will most likely melt plastic LED bulbs. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Just looking to replace the one little one on top of the headlight, not the rears. Do you think that the heat will bother an LED up there?
Thanks,

Yep i run an LED front parking light, straight replacment, no problems with the bulb monitoring as it only looks at the rear, the one i have is 4 high bright LED's but they do look a little bit blue, compliments the HID headlamp bulb though.

I was thinking about different (K75) headlights when I posted earlier. On the RS and LT headlights you can use an LED no problem and, as pointed out, the BMU only looks at the rear parking light so that's not an issue.
Here's a few examples of diffferent LEDs:

Drake the single on the blue '85 looks nice but the 9 on the k11 looks nicer. Is this a kit? Let me know.
I imagine they are much "whiter" in real life??

I used to sell the 18-LED bar as a kit but they weren't very popular and were a PITA to make so I quit. Only a select few K bike owners have them.
The LEDs are amber - on purpose.
On the blue K100RS I used a single direct replacement 4-LED bulb. MUCH easier to install as the 18-LED bar required dismantling the headlight - and you have to take a lot of the fairing inner panels off to do that. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I doubt they have them at radio shack. I can't remember what the bulb type is. I'll figure it out n the next couple of days and see if I can find something for you on Fleabay. What color do you want? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I'd prefer a white to match the headlight.

Does anybody know the type of bulb for the stock front Parking Bulb. I would like to find a good strong LED replacement also, but you need to know the stock type first, correct? _________________ Had-K75S, K1100LT, R1100GS, K75S, R90S/6, R1200C, R1100S, R100S. And now 96 K1100RS (SE). |

I want a set in red, that sequence left-right, right-left, like on the face of the Cylon Warriors in the original Battlestar Galactica. Put on a seperate switch so you have a conversation piece at rallies. _________________ Rod Kilduff

Here is the Knight rider brake light I have on the rear. No reason you can't put it on the front as long it is not used on the road.
