Was doing my usual CL surf last week looking at BMW K bike stuff. Low and behold but what do I find? An ad for a "1991 K100 Streetfighter." for $1,300.

Just as a point of reference, here's what a 1991 K100LT looks like in it's non-streetfighter form:

And here's the "streetfighter":

This bike has some very nice cutom touches to it. Check out that headlight (non-working.) It's got dents all over it and looks like it was stolen from a Stutz Bearcat that got run over by a semi.

It has a wonderful seat too. Ripped to shreds and held onto the bike with a couple of luggage straps:

The tank is a work of art too. Lots of custom dents and the cheesy truck bed liner doesn't seem to be holding up too well. I wondered why the gas cap was pointing back instead of forward. It's because the latch is broken. Turned around as it is it doesn't blow open while riding.

And I guess he couldn't be bothered to take the tank off to paint it. Lots of overspray on the upper forks and fork trees.

Let's check out the controls, shall we?

1 - A mirror that's only good for inspecting your left nipple.

2 - The instrument cluster. An LCD bike speedometer.

3 - Most of the buttons are missing from the switches. But if you don't have turn signals or a horn then I guess you don't need buttons for them either.

4 - Lovely pink Renthal handlebars. I suppose they may have been red at some point in the past. The grip rubbers are worn to the point where they're kind of melted and stick to your gloves. It's got barbacks though. Very Happy

5 - Badly mangled brake lever with ground up master cylinder.

6- Incredibly, the bike is not hotwired and the ignition switch actually works.

Now lets take a look at the rear end:

1 - Notice the expired tabs. "So, what paper do you have for this bike." "I don't have a registration and the title(salvage) is in Colorado. But here, you can have this expired insurance card from 2007 that I carry around in my wallet. I can mail you the title." "Don't bother."

2 - Tail/ brake light LED license plate frame. It actually works! Probably one of the more worthwhile parts on this bike.

3 - No tail lighting lens. We'll get to what's there now in the next picture.

4 - Turns signals are long gone. "I just use hand signals."

5 - Not an actual BMW tail cowl roundel. Just some cheap assed sticker.

Lift off the seat and look in the tail cowl to find that the tail light is a MagLite. Laughing It's faded now but it looks like at some point in time there was red nail polish on the MagLite lens. Got to keep it legal, you know. Wink

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away this bike had ABS. The number of parts missing on this bike is greater than the number left.

BUT, it does actually run and ride. In fact, I rode it home. Since the headlight was out and I really did not want to get pulled over, I would tailgate the car in front of me on the right side, hoping to slip by unnoticed if there were a LEO going the other way.

Being a K bike, it does actually start right up and run pretty well. The front brakes work but the rear is warped and pulses like ABS kicking in.

No, I obviously didn't pay $1,300 but I did pay more than a dollar so I probably got ripped off.

I like the Star Wars Rebel Alliance symbol where the roundel is supposed to go.

HO LEE CH!T

WTF are you gonna' do with THAT??

Well with the globs of paint you probably won't be worrying about unseen rust. And if you leave it like that, theft probably won't be a problem.

BTW, today my son and I sat on a new ACTUAL Streetfighter and the shop owner offered me a ride on their demo SF. Turned him down- figured if I rode it I would be signing on the bottom line- HOT (fast not K hot) bike.

Good luck with your "streetfighter"

We've all had more than a dollar's worth of fun just reading about this project. If you put some Works Performance progressive fork springs in it you'd have an equal to j o's motoheap.

Look forward to hearing and seeing how this project develops...

Riding it home really wasn't that bad. It's a frickin' K bike - solid as a rock. Engine, tranny. steering and front brakes are fine. I just had to remember not to use the warped rear brake. Wheels seem good and true and the ME880s have oodles of tread left. I was mostly paranoid about getting pulled over for not having a headlight. Didn't feel any more dangeorus than normal riding around here.

The forks are leaking slightly and obviously will need new seals but the tubes seem to be in good shape. In fact, I might just use them on my project K75 that I'm about to embark on.

I just pulled the MagLite out and put fresh batteries in it - works just fine. It will now become the official flashlight of my K bike dungeon. I will have a good laugh every time I use it.

I flipped through the pictures again and it's really starting to grow on me. How much would you take for it? I can fly out and ride it home.

You don't happen to have a picture of the guy you bought it from?

Tranny
Final drive and drive shaft (we'll see how those are when I pull things apart)
Good (though not beautiful) wheels with ME880's with lots of tread
Forks and fork trees are fine - need fork seals though - fork tubes don't appear to have any pits or scratches
Front fender
All of the relays
Throttle, clutch and choke cables
Barbacks
Starter
Alternator
Ignition switch
Dash pad
Seat lock
Fuel level sender
Fuel pump
Pegs and peg plates
And lots of goodies from the engine like the HES, TPS, TBs, water pump, mass air flow sensor
All of the brake calipers
Not sure on thickness but the front rotors seem fine
TPS
Fuel injectors
Exhaust and headers
Coils and spark plug leads
LED license plate frame
A Colorado license plate to add to my collection
MagLite

It also came with a complete used front master, throttle tube and brake lever the guy had been too lazy to install.

Oh yeah, and a hardback Haynes manual.

Now that it's famous on the Internet the price is $2,000.

Sorry, no picture. Just let your imagination work for you on who would actually ride something like that.

1. Do you happily accept Paypal?
2. Will you trade it for a stock exhaust?

OMG, I think I'll cry first and then have a good laugh. If that post wasn't coming from you, I'd think it was a hoax!

I also can't believe you rode it home! You like life on the edge don't you!

That has to be the most molested, screwed up, hell, raped K I've ever seen.

Thanks for the images and commentary.

Aside from the rear brake it rides like a nice solid K bike. I was really only concerned about getting pulled over. (Or someone recognizing me. Very Happy)
