The weather is looking good for this weekend, in the 70's with only isolated afternoon showers.
What cabin number is "chestnut"?
(edit) Oh, see it doesn't have a number and appears to be in a different group of cabins in the Hemlock Haven area. Looks like you hang a left after you come into the park. Says it's on level ground, maybe a little easier parking than last year. _________________ Steve

Hi everybody the parking will be flat I haven't stayed at a cabin in that park since 2006. The pavement up to the bigger cabins was packed gravel that was easy to ride on, but crappy to park on. I have a feeling the parking and roads are now asphalt like the rest of the park. Sorry for not getting a cabin with a kitchen Next year, I'll be sure to add a galley I doubt that I will make it down to see everyone, I just started walking yesterday. I hope everyone has a great time _________________ Dom |

Hey, Hungry Mo riders. Wish I could join you, but the trip just isn't in the cards this year. But you shall be on my mind, even though the ranks of "True Bricks" have dwindled. (Yes, I mean you, rydor and Das Boot.) Now if Ted actually showed up on a Brick, that would be newsworthy! And Blue Streak making an appearance in lieu of The Shop Whore would also be worth seeing.
Safe travels, all (especially you, Shogs) and I'll look forward to the photos! _________________ tlp

Hi, All,
I've got 3 ceegars. Who wants them? One is reserved for Ted; I hope he shows. Even if he's in a cage, I hope he shows!

Looking forward to seeing everyone, we'll miss Klinker and Boot, it won't be the same without you guys.
Thanks Boot again for making the arrangements. Given that we'll all be in one cabin, I think two bathrooms was a good idea, no worries on the kitchen.
I'll be heading up Friday AM and hope to arrive before 3PM, we'll see how it goes super slabbing it this time. Got my Throttlemeisters, cramp buster, RAM shock and padded biking shorts this time (thanks for the tip Abreeze), I'm hoping for a more comfortable ride this year.
I'll pass on the cigars Phil, but thanks for the offer.
Everyone ride safe and we'll see you up there (or down there depending on where you're coming from!) _________________ Steve

Hi Everybody,
Wish I could have made it!!! I just started riding yesterday, I am putting my right foot down at stops which is kinda odd!! I hope everyone has a wonderful time at Hungry Mother!!! I love the riding around there, eatery's are a bit weak in the area, but the riding
I have been wondering if Ted is going to make a surprise ride in on a bike? I just took in a 2004 K1200GT, that may have name on it and the dealership.
best of luck _________________ Dom |

Hey all!
Just got home a little while ago, safe and sound.
Had a great trip, good times, many laughs, more pictures to follow.
I only wish my ride vehicle up,
Was the same as my ride vehicle home.
One of the U-joints on the drive shaft snapped whilst in the twisties, fortunately it was a controlled break-down at fairly low speed (35-40 mph) on one of the very few straight parts with a gravel driveway literally 30 ft. from where it happened. Could have been much worse in ways I don't even want to think about.
A HUGE thanks to all my fellow Hungry Mothers for your assistance, patience and support. You guys are the best, sorry for the shortened riding day.
More to follow...... (like a bunch a tech questions on U-joint replacement!) _________________ Steve

Bummer Steve
Glad your ok though!!! The replacement is very straight foreward, I would change out the paralever needle bearings with the bronze bushing type, while you have the drive shaft out. The only semi special tool you will need is the giant sized allen wrench for the inner paralever side. Other needs will be a bottle of lock tight and possibly a heat gun to loosen the big allen head bolt and the outer side that will have to be precisely torqued, I gave up all my manuals for the bike, I think its 7nm for the set bolt on the outside. Honda Moly 60 stuff is good for the lube on the splines and try to line up the lobes of the u joints when you are putting her back together. If you need anything give me a ring or PM. _________________ Dom |

finally. Took me about 9 hours total - 6 hours riding time. Gwen and I rode up to Culpepper together. I left Culpepper and headed around the Warrenton bypass - just a few miles north, traffic was at a standstill - u-turned and headed back toward Warrenton, cut across 605 and 17 north to 66 - made it on 66 east to 28 - traffic was at a standstill again - took 28 north to 267 east - made it home from there. YIKES!
It was great to see every one again! Definitely missed Klinker, Das Boot and Ted! It was great to have Rich there and to share part of the ride down with - thanks for waiting, Rich. Thanks for the ride to Culpepper, Gwen - enjoyed it.
Plans are being made for HMSP III... _________________ Jim

The food was great - turns out Audi functions very well in chef mode! Friday evening when Rich and I got there, we didn't have long to wait until Audi whipped up some avacado dip to go with chips as an appetizer. Steaks grilled to order (great job, Audi), baked potatoes and grilled red, yellow and orange peppers (mangoes for those of you in Indiana) were already on the grill! It was a most excellent meal. That cabin does not have a full kitchen - only coffeemaker, microwave, and a small fridge.
There were incredible storms in that part of the state - we had a power outage Friday night - by the time we got back from Saturday's ride and other adventures, power had been restored. Probably just as well we didn't have a fireplace - we cranked the AC!
We went to Alice's Restaurant for breakfast Saturday morning - there was some storm damage on the hill behind the restaurant - a couple small swaths where trees looked like they were mowed down.
We headed away from the storm for our ride Saturday, although Saturday night on the way home from dinner, we rode through an incredible downpour - rain that sounded like hail - fortunately, we were safely ensconced in Steve's temporary ride... _________________ Jim
