|
|
Hi I'm new to this group. I recently bought a K11LT and love it! I've owned Airheads since the '70s, but thought it was time to get something with a little newer technology. My question is whether or not I'm likely to get stranded or not. The Starter button does not work most of the time till I turn the kill switch to the off position then back to on, then it will start. Am I looking at replacing the switch, doing a repair, or ?. Any experience with this problem? Thanks for your help. _________________ 93 K11LT

Welcome! Others will be along soon demanding pictures. I don't have a clue how to solve your problem but if it were mine I'd take apart the kill switch and see what it looks like. _________________ Jim

Welcome.
Remove the right switch assembly by undoing the small Phillips screw that holds it to the perch.
When you pull the switch assembly off on the back you'll see an E-clip that holds the start/kill assembly on. Pop that off and things come right apart. Clean the contacts and reassemble. That should solve your problem. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks for the welcome. I took your suggestion and took the switch apart, cleaned and lubed it up and it seems to work much better. Thanks. Hope to post a photo soon. http://i699.photobucket.com/albums/vv357/brentbiles/IMG_0053.jpg _________________ 93 K11LT

Hey, I still have the Motobrick. Took her out for a 100 mile day a week ago......man that sucker is smooooth. And comfortable to ride. And heavy. Was a lot of fun though, like meeting a long-lost friend. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Thanks again for the welcome and kind words. The gray on the mirrors is just a wierd reflection. They are all blue.. I think it was a good find, one owner, all service records, and He took good care of it. By the way I know what "BFD" usually refers to But ? _________________ 93 K11LT

Welcome to the group! Another Astral Blue Metallic, I love it! I even have that same Corbin touring saddle for when it goes out 2-up.

I thought it was a proper name or something. Out of curiosity I tried a few online Cherman-Engrish translators but nothing came up.
And where's your radiator switch write-up? Don't tell me the dog ate it. _________________ 93 LT (x2)
