|
|
| I'm going to look at a 1994 LT later this week. It has a low Corbin seat, no hinges but he says it locks with the key like a regular seat. Anybody seen one of these on a LT? I figure it is for the low K75 model Corbin seat. IS it going to be an issue to put a regular BMW seat on, I guess I'm wondering if when someone uses these super low seats if it buggers up the mounting stuff on the bike? |

You will probably only have to buy the seat side of the hinge. There are two. Both rubber isolated. Look under the seat on the frame for a bracket near the toolbox which will have or take a 6mm dia clevis pin. The other pivot for the hinge is where the RHside panel fits.

There's a few bits of hardware to swap around but nothing major.
IF the bike is runnign a low sea tthen it probably either has modified (somehow?) side panels or none at all. So you should swee if the owner has god side panels for the bike or afjust price accordingly.
Out of curiousity, do you have pics of said bike? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

| The side panels were taken off when new and stored so they (supposedly)look new. It is graphite metalic, 22K miles, spring service just done (all fluids), new fork seals, 2 owners, allways serviced by BMW dealers, and the seat swap was done by a dealer when new. If we don't get a foot of spring snow I'll have pic's when I get it home this weekend. Anybody need a low Corbin with mounting hardware? |

Sounds nice. Good thing the owner kept the side panels.

I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I have a K75 low seat on my K1100LT. It was an east conversion and I got it as an even trade for a stock seat with side covers and all mounting parts. I got the better part of the deal. I am sure you will have no problem trading out the low seat for a stock seat. since you dont need the side covers I am sure you can make a little extra on the trade. If you buy a stock seat with mounting parts and are looking to sell the low seat with the mounting parts I would be interested in it. I have a K100 that needs a low seat. _________________ Ron

Hi, Tooslow,
I converted my late wife's K75RT from the standard seat to the low seat. I believe the same parts work for the K1100LT. These are the differences, other than the seat itself. Realize, these are both BMW seats. I have no idea how the Corbin attaches.
LOW SEAT - stick-on clips which stick onto the fuel tank. Rubber cover which covers the back of the tank and extends to cover some of what the (not used) side panels covered. 2 hooks which mount onto the rear cowling which keep the seat from moving around. Latch mechanism which the seat latch fits into. Lock and release mechanism (attached to the latch mechanism by a rod maybe 10 inches long).
NORMAL SEAT - 2 hinges and necessary mounting bits. Lock and release mechanism (different from the lock and release mechanism used for the low seat). I hope this helps.

| So, do I understand that a 1993 K75 Corbin will fit on a 1994 K11 and not have to mess with removing sidepanels? |

Yes, but you'll probably need different hinges. Look under your seat at the hinges. If they have 1/3" rubber pads on them then you'll need to get hinges without rubber pads. Not a big deal. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

| Thanks. It already has a Corbin seat on it, no rubber pads. The seat has the seams starting to seperate. Corbin wants $329 to fix. Saw a seat on another site for $250... thought it was a better deal. Thanks for the info. |
