I left a reply on the previous tire question but thought I would put up my own enquiry , being happy with the pilot road 2 radial on the front of my LT I want to know if anyone has fitted a pr2 to their lt on the rear the standard tire is a 140/80-17 but read some where that a 150/70 zr-17 will just fit with about 5 mm clearance from the swing arm .P S I called them road pilots on my reply, sorry about that, also not interested in the bias vs radial debate . I'm sold on radials Thanks AUSBRICK MICK _________________ 92k1100 lt with sidecar. 93K1100 CAFE..86K75C.95 k1100lt |

I fitted the Avon Azaro 140/80ZR17 (69W) with the PR2 110/80ZR18, they work perfectly together, great grip and a softer ride than the Michelin Macs. The Avon tyre is specified as suitable for the K1100LT with a max speed rating of 149mph (270kph) and load rating 325kg, same as the Michelin Mac. This combo has been used by a more experienced KLT owner in the UK who (I think) is on his 3rd set, and after 4000 miles mine still looks like new in the tread department. _________________

I"m running a PR2 rear on both my LT and RS. The clearance is thight but no problems running an RS rear wheel with a PR2 on the LT - couldn't be happer... _________________ 93 LT (x2)

I'm thinking about an RS rear when these tyres go - what's the load rating on the 160/60 tyre Duck? _________________

Add one more fan to the PR2 front/Azaro rear combination. Stock sizes, great grip and performance. On my first set, but the first couple thousand miles have been great. _________________ M N B

Funny you should ask......my new Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires arrived today.
Load rating: 739#/335kg for the 160/60 ZR 18 rear
520#/236kg for the 120/70 ZR 17 front

I have the 150/70ZR-17 on the rear of my LT with the orig LT rim. It is a little bit wider and just a tad shorter. I have no issues with it hitting the swingarm but then I don't drag the pegs in the turns. _________________ 1993 K1100LT

I did the math: We're actually talking 5 millimeters wider per side. Not much. Should lower the whole bike a full centimeter. Have you noticed a speedometer calibration change? It should actually lower the indicated speed by 3.5% which would make mine less inaccurate. Is it noticeably harder to pull on to the centerstand? _________________ Jim

10kg more than the standard rear and 7kg lighter on the front, should do the job. _________________

Jim,
It didn't seem to lower it that much as the narrower rim seemed to hold the height just a bit. I didn't bother to measure the rollout of my old tire as it was worn so bad that threads were showing in a few spots.
I don't know how far off my speedo is. We just bought a GPS for the cage. I am going to throw it in the tank bag one of these days and see what it says.

Now even the RS rear on the LT is looking skinny to me! That's about the limit though with the swing arm...

Any wider and you'll have to get a real mudflap with some shiny chrome thing on it that blinds everyone behind you. _________________ Jim
