|

Well, after 5 years of my ownership my 1993 K1100RS has a new home.
Sold it last month to Dick from California. He called a few days after I posted it in the IBMWR Marketplace, agreed to the price and flew out to pick it up and ride it home. I even threw in free transport from DFW airport, about a 100 mile drive from my house.
Dick has had some bad times with K bikes lately, no fault of his own.
His '85 KRS, owned since new, got clobbered a few months back by an inattentive driver. Luckily Dick wasn't hurt badly. He replaced that with a '91KRS. A riding buddy of his ran into the back of Dick and totaled it, again luckily no one hurt badly. Dick went looking for another KRS, he does love 'em ! This is where he found mine.
Since the ABS was out on my '93 (bad front modulator) I tried to price it fairly. For Dick it was a good deal. The still good ABS front modulator on his '91 (ABS I) should slip right into place on the '93 (also ABS I), hope it works out that way and that he gets some great riding on it. I forgot to tell him about this forum, maybe I'll send him an email about it. Every K11 owner should belong to this place.
Replaced the KRS with a 2008 Suzuki Bandit 1250S ABS (I know, BOO, HISS ).
Anyway thanks to all who helped me out with my K1100 questions, it was much appreciated. Not sure about getting another KRS, really would like another Airhead (the R100RS has always been a favorite). But ya never know, I always wanted an ABS II equipped K1100RS too.
Good riding to all y'all! _________________ Mark Rooney

Congrats on your new bike. If you look at my posts the 1250ABS is a bike I was and still am seriously considering.
How much did you pay for it, and did you get any luggage with it?

I got it out of Bartlesville, OK as a new left over, 1 of 2 they had. $7699 ($8799 MSRP) before TTL so an OK deal (they wouldn't budge on the price and didn't have to). No luggage came with it, I've installed a Givi E30N topcase and toprack. Not gonna put sidecases on it, I got those on my '03 Triumph Sprint ST. I'm keeping the Bandit lean and mean. But luggage is easy to do with either Givi or Suzuki OEM.
Less protection than the KRS, obviously. Great for two-up use, my wife likes the pillon seat. The engine is everything they say, wonderful torque. Great aftermarket: suspension, exhaust, bodywork. And Bandit owners are every bit as dedicated/fanatical as . . . K1100 owners
I'll try to post some photos, I'll have to get my son to help me out. _________________ Mark Rooney

Mark,
Best of luck with your new ride. Nice Bike. We almost bought a Bandit 1200 (the older aircooled version) before the brick. Cathy did like the passenger accomodations.
Check back here from time to time. And do get us some pictures.
Good luck,

Just my .02 but I prefer the ABS I. Seems to give fewer false positives and makes spline lubes easier.
Anyhow, happy trails on your new ride.... _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Congrats on the new bike. The Bandit is nice. I see lots of people touring on the bike with soft luggage. _________________ 2000 R1100RT
