PostPosted: Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:29 pm    Post subject: 2 Questions: Reply with quote

1. Anyone know of a decent, honest shipping company from CO to NY?
2. Looking for a 2" hitch mounted bike carrier rated for 500 or so. Suggestions? Anyone have one used?

Thanks.

Be a MAN - fly and ride! There's no better way to achieve oneness with your new ride.

IF you were smart, you'd live in Seattle and buy bikes in LA - then ride them home up the coast. I've bought 5 Ks that way. (OK, on the first one I busted by IBA cherry and slabbed it up I-5)

the smart money is renting a vehicle with a class 3 ot 4 hitch... drive it to iowa... get the joe hauler... drive it to colorado... get the moto... drive it back to long island...

vs riding back...

1... you will not wear out a set of dual sport tires slabbing it home...

2... you will own the worlds best dirt bike hauler... the joe hauler...

vs shipping...

1... you will not throw away delivery money on something that has no value...

2... you will own the worlds best dirt bike hauler... the joe hauler...

It's a done deal fellas....will post pics of the setup hopefully by the weekend.

Went with JCMotors shipping....566 door to door, faaaaast service and fully insured too.

Got the rack above...with ties and shipping (50 bucks for shipping wtf) came to 230ish.

So highly modded XR650R with 2300 miles($3300) + shipping ($570) + rack ($230)

About the same price I paid for the motobrick 3 years ago. Laughing
(I am sure it will give me just as many heartaches as well too)

Johnny showed

That's an awesome rack, I thought they only made those to fit dual sports up to 400lbs +/-, but not strong enough to hold our K's. It's got me rethinking about needed a trailer, as I have a 2" receiver on my Silverado.....

skdonlan...

the joe hauler cam loc is the only way to go... all welded... nothing bolted... no slop in the receiver because of the cam loc... solid as an anvil...

we see lotts o motos on carriers here in cali... they are all bouncing around and warped out and ch1t...

except for the joe hauler cam loc of course... absolutely no slop... no bouncing... no warp... no ch1t...

one thing... anybody using a carrier should not use regular tie downs... the hooks will come out of the holes... for 75 bucks you can have the best and be worry free...

not as badd ass and scott underscore andersons... but motocarrier friendly...

Tell me about the bouncing, I bought a cheap ass luggage rack for the rear receiver and it's fine for coolers and chairs down to Hatteras, but I wouldn't trust it with my bike (or a moped). It bounces all over the place!
