Going to be putting my beloved LT up for sale soon and need some opinions from the masses on what I should start asking, pricewise.

1993 purchased in May of 06 with 46k on the clock.

89k now. (will have 90k soon)

Detailed service records.
Oil changed every 5k with Syntech.
Fresh spline lube.

Extras/goodies:
Avon ST rear Pilot road front tires have about 3k on them.
Bagster tank cover system with citi bag. (smaller profile)
Works Performance custom sprung variable stiffness rear shock with about 5-6k on it. (have stock as well)
Race Tech .95kg front springs with 12w oil.
BMW OEM fork boots.
Motolites with 50w flood/spot halogens.
Aftermarket heated grips.
Aftermarket 80w speakers.
GPS/Satellite radio/Ipod ready.
Full Remus exhaust (have stock exhaust as well)
Corbin Dual Canyon seat with removable passenger backrest. (have stock seat as well)
Cee Bailey +4 light blue tinted winshield
Sidestand switch disabled
Replacement fuel gauge-not installed(current one works but is discolored)
Full hard luggage keyed to ignition key.

Throttlemeister setup/bar weights with bobs wrist rest and throttle lock.

I also have lots of extra parts I will be throwing in like a color matched front fender set (bike has RS black fenders on it)
Extra rear brake caliper

Bike is 100% following a fresh spline lube and tranny work. I put 15-18,000 miles a year on this bike and have no doubt that I could continue doing so, but I am craving a more sporty ride. The bike looks fantastic and unique with normal dings of a bike of its age.

*EDIT* Sold cruise control, screw kit, headlight cover and tires.

I am going to ask $4500.

What say you guys?

Sounds fair to me Dave. How is it cosmetically?

Top notch, I keep it very clean and fill in all dings and scuffs asap. It's not on par with Larrys work, but for a bike that is ridden as much as it is it looks great.

Constantly gets compliments, and people cannot believe it's a 93.

Hey OTG!

Price is fair for what is going on with it. You already took the time & effort to work out all the kinks. You have a $1,000 worth of goodies easy to go along with it. You'll need to find a BMW savvy buyer or convince someone WHY exactly it's a fair deal. Many prospects may not be able to get past the mileage, so you'll need to tell/sell the history of your ride over & over again until sold. Stay the course, you can do it.

These are darn challenging financial times and I fear we have not yet come to the end. You are going to have to start now and work really hard at it though spring.

Hope I am wrong and she goes quick for you, so you find MC'ing nirvanna soon.

We all know you deserve it brother! Smile

Put all of the stock crap back on it (exhaust, seat, front fender, etc...) and sell those separately and drop the price by a few hun. You'll end up with more money for your new bike that way.

I'd consider pulling the Motolights too if you think you'll want them on your next ride.

Install the replacement fuel gauge - 10 minute job.

I'm gonna need some help with that one...I tried and the wires are completely different. I mean nothing I could even remotely splice.

@John Thats whats worrying me. The economy is going to get much, much worse this year I fear. I might do as Drake suggests and strip the bike naked, sell the goodies seperate and the bike stock for like 3k.

PS Extra set of tires are taken already by Scott Anderson. Vultures I tell ya vultures. Smile

The NADA guide which is used a lot around here puts you in the right range: $3525 in very good condition, $5250 in excellent condition.

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-23-38-5697-0-0-0&l=1&w=23&p=38&f=5698&m=0009&d=1500011845&y=1993&ml=B&gc=AM&gtc=MC

Kelly is in the same range at $4420.

http://www.kbb.com/kbb/OtherVehicles/PricingReport.aspx?VehicleId=65148&VehicleClass=Motorcycle&PriceType=Retail&ManufacturerId=5&YearId=1993

Neither takes in to account mileage except I guess whether the mileage makes sense for the year. 90k in 16 years isn't unreasonable. The extra's are hard to quantify and may not be fully appreciated until the buyer joins this forum.

I feel really fortunate in my purchase of a completely stock 94 with 28k miles for $3000. Hopefully for you it will be a seller's market in a few months.

Strip it and trade it toward a Bandit (or whatever) and sell your farkles. You can probably find a leftover new '08, which they will be dying to move...

Scott Anderson will be surprised to find that out as I'm the one who wanted your tires. Laughing

Man, I got to give Dave credit for being a mind reader. I hadn't even asked about the tires yet! Laughing I had thought about it though.

I had more realistic thoughts of the rear shock and the uninstalled cruise control though.

Damn you guys for having almost identical avatars, both being named Scott and being generally all-around great dudes!

Understandable mistake. I look for the Under_Score_Scott to keep 'em straight...

Hey Jo thanks for the vote of confidence.

I am pretty stoked to be buying now, but the downside is that I might have to drop the motobrick price waaay down to sell it.

But hey someone out there must be in the market for a budget sport-tourer that does pretty much everything well but nothing superb.

Cool

I need me to buy my bike, 3 years ago. Surprised

FWIW, here is my totally stock `93 in May of 08, the day I bought it.

Dealer serviced with 65K on the clock. Scratches on the bags/mirrors and tires about 80%. I paid $3,000. I figured it was a fair price. Flawless `93s then, were almost $4,000 with less mileage. Good luck selling yours.

Mine is going with aftermarket fork boots, Race tech springs, Cee Bailey +4 screen, 80w speakers, aftermarket heated grips and a fresh spline lube/oil change.

Going to start around 3300-3500 range and drop down accordingly.

Advertise it in Craig's with lots of big colorful pictures in a park with grass as a background. Mention the 50+ MPG. $3,500
