Soon will be replacing front caliper piston seals. Anybody come up with a workable substitute for BMW piston speader tool?
As usual, many thanks for suggestions. _________________ '93 K1100LT

An inch or wider chisel. Stick it in between the pads and slowly pry the pads apart. If you push them apart too quickly it can force fluid past the seals out of the master cylinder. DAMHIK. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

What has worked for me was using 2 pieces of wood shim stock. insert from opposite sides and slowly, carefully drive them together to spread the pads.
This method also works well to keep the pads spread when removing the caliper for tire/fork repairs. _________________ Ride safe.

Thanks for the quick responses. Sounds like I will be able to sllde pistons and new seals in far enough by hand to hang on the brake pads and push it all in place by separating the pads.
And I do remove the pistons by blowing compressed into brake line openings, right? _________________ '93 K1100LT
