All riders should probably have a first aid kit tucked away somewhere on the bike. This one is designed specifically for the biking community - and is a lot smaller and lighter than the one I usually pack. It also has more useful stuff than a regular first aid kit. I just ordered two of them. I pack a bottle of saline solution for wound cleaning.
http://www.hermosaworks.com/
DESIGNED FOR THE MOTORCYCLIST, THIS CUSTOM, COMPACT KIT PACKS EASILY ON ANY BIKE WHILE CARRYING ITEMS THAT COULD HELP SAVE A LIFE!
IN LIFE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN. UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN A MOTORCYCLE IS INVOLVED THE INJURIES ARE USUALLY MORE SEVERE THAN THE ORDINARY FIRST AID KIT IS ABLE TO HANDLE.
FIRST AID KIT CONTENTS:
23 USEFUL ITEMS
1 EACH ACE BANDAGE 2"X 5yds
Versatile elastic bandage. Multi-use: sling, wound
dressing, etc.
2 EACH ADHESIVE BANDAGES large 2"X 4"
Self adhesive bandages for minor wounds, sterile.
2 EACH ALCOHOL PADS
Prep pads saturated with isopropyl alcohol.
2 EACH ANTIBACTERIAL WIPES
Antiseptic cleaning of skin without use of soap and
water.
1 EACH BURN DRESSING 4"X 4"
Water-jel sterile gel-soaked burn dressing. Relieves
pain.
1 EACH COHESIVE FLEX TAPE 1"X 5yds.
Self adhesive flexible tape used to secure bandages.
3 EACH COMBINE ABD PADS 5"x 9"
Sterile absorbent dressings for large wounds.
1 EACH CPR FACE SHIELD
Laerdal brand protection when performing CPR.
Packaged with gloves.
1 EACH EMERGENCY BLANKET 52" X 84"
Mylar wrap reduces the risk of shock. Can be
used as rain shelter or ground cover.
1 EACH EYE PAD STERILE 2 5/8" X 1 5/8"
Large sterile oval eye dressing.
3 EACH GAUZE PADS 4" X 4"
Sterile dressing for large or small wounds.
1 EACH GLOW STICK 6"
High intensity emergency lighting. Signaling,
traffic control. Cyalume.
2 PAIR GLOVES DISPOSABLE
Personal protection for you and an assistant
when giving aid. High quality blue nitrile gloves.
Packaged with CPR face shield.
1 EACH TRAUMA SHEARS 7 1/2"
Heavy duty, blunt tip. Easily cuts through leather,
denim, etc. An absolute necessity.
1 EACH VINYL CARRYING CASE 7" X 5" X 3"
Durable custom zippered case with clear interior
pockets for easy viewing of contents. _________________ Jim

hey Gwen - thanks for the link to the Quikclot. Do you carry one of these, too? I guess with all the old geezers out riding we should all get one... http://www.healthcare.philips.com/main/products/resuscitation/products/frx/index.wpd _________________ Jim

Hi Jim, no but I wish I could afford one.
That said, in all my travels and in all my life for that matter, I've never witnessed sudden cardiac collaps or v-fib outside a hospital environment. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Some things worth packing.
Hydrocortisone (bites, friction skin rashes)
Antacid
Imodium (Mild diarrhea)
Pepto-Bismol (Travelers diarrhea)
Anti-fungal liquid spray (use everyday to maintain healthy foot skin)
I use "Tinactin Antifungal Pump Spray, 2-Ounce Spray Bottles"
Antihistarmine (allergic reactions)
Clear nail polish (treats chiggers)
Moleskin (treat rub spots before the skin breaks)
Tweezers or hemostats
Besure to replace expired meds.
An easy to keep track is to make a list of what's in your kit on a spreadsheet. Include the expiration date and have that list in the kit. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
