anyone know how thick the front and rear K11 rotors are when they're new? _________________ Jim

Hi, Jim,
No, I don't have the specs near me. But if you find you need front rotors, I have a set, currently mounted to my spare K1100LT front wheel, complete with a new Michelin Mac 50E tire. Since I hit the deer a year and a half ago and no longer have a K1100LT, these are for sale if you (or anyone else) are interested.

Thank you, Phil. I don't need the wheel or the tire at this point. Actually, I don't need the rotors - just wondering what spec is on them - I caught a little grief on the brakes the last time I went in for inspection. I want to be armed with new spec and minimum (4.5) in case they give me any more trouble. _________________ Jim

Clymer manual says:
frt-rear new 4.0-4.04 mm (0.157-0.173 in), min 3.55 (0.140 in)
I just measured my 97LT with 80k. Front .190, rear .165 Above new specs. don't make sense for new. The disc ridge around the outside on my LT where the pad doesn't hit is around .200, which should be the approx new thickness?? I zeroed my micrometer, so its accurate. |

I believe new is 5.0mm and min is 4.5mm.
The minimum spec is stamped on the rotors for at least some models. _________________ M N B

I went out and checked mine, left side is 4.3/4.4 and the right is 4.6. Stamped on the rotor is 4.5 min.
Now I need a different caliper to double check as this one is from Harbor Freight and cost a whopping $6.
How thick are yours, Phil, and do you have to buy the tire wheel package.
Does anyone know if there is a good aftermarket alternative? _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT

I've got a pair that are 4.88 - pretty close to new. Rotors only, no carriers. $185 shipped. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

The OEMs go for about $300-325 new if that makes you feel any better.
FD has some used ones in good shape at a good price. _________________ M N B

Again - thanks for the responses. Mine spec out as new: 5.0 all the way around. The bike has a little more than 55,000 miles on it at this time. _________________ Jim

Well, I went out and bought a $39 Chinese caliper to check the $6 Chinese Harbor Freight caliper and they both read the same.
Got a pair ordered from Duck's Discount K Parts House. Thanks Duck, the moolah is in the mail! _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT
