Just finished replacing a windshield "lever" which is the arm that holds the windshield to the power mechanism. The symptom was erratic motion in the rise and slightly tilted windshield at the top. Inspection revealed a cracked arm and missing grub screw and nut. I think this is a major safety issue because with one side damaged there is a lot of stress on the other side. The repair is not difficult, 10 screws and one electrical plug and you have the whle thing on the dining room table. Good opportunity for a cleaning too.
My point is, if your windshield moves erratically or if you're curious, it's easy to remove 4 screws near the speakers and peer in there with a flashlight to make sure everything looks ok. You can spray the rods with silicone while you're there.
Every time I take something apart I find more fasteners missing. If I keep this up will the front end eventually stop rattling over bumps?
