The 1997 K1100LT specifications indicate the top speed is 125mph. At a recent 'trackday' I wound it up to 7500rpms in 5th gear (1k shy of redline).
I noticed this later:
Unfortunately, I was massively outclassed by the other bikes. But, considering, I felt I put in a good showing. _________________ M N B

The max speed on my Zumo (achieved while on the bike) presently shows 127 mph. I know it's not very 'PC' but I make sure I don't erase it when resetting the unit's functions... I had an indicated 135 on the speedo at the time. _________________

Impressive!
I have hit 120 on the spedo, which is about 105 real time.
And yes, anytime I start feeling my oats with a sportbike in the straights...they twist the throttle and I feel like a total tool.
However, I get some comfort knowing I can keep with the best of em in the twisties. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

I've had an indicated 142mph. Very optimistic speedos though from what I hear. _________________ 1992 K1100RS - Red and gold. |

The factory top speed for an LT is 130. I've had mine up to a GPS 125. The other 5mph is there but you'd have to be patient.

The factory top speed for an RS is 136. I've had my RS up to a GPS 125 and figured that was fast enough.

I disabled the max speed feature on my TomTom. If I get pulled over, I don't want that stat available - especially since it will usually only represent where my speed peaked when passing. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Did read on one set of specs that the RS 16v top speed is 152mph.
Had my RS upto an indicated 145mph and still pulling before it was written off. _________________ 1999 K1100LTIC Smooth and Quiet Cruise, BFD & HID

While I'll believe that particular spec, I do not trust the specs on that site. My LT does NOT have a 5.81 gallon tank (as they claim). It's 5 gallons. And it's not a Imperial Gallon vs US gallon thing because Imperial Gallons are bigger.
Like I said, I had 1k more rpm before red line. It was a windless day. I'm not sure exactly where I hit that speed, it might have been a slight downhill... _________________ M N B

That IS odd.
I have the K1100 dealer pamphlet and it says the LT has a 5.2 gallon tank. (It also mentions the LT's "low center of gravity." )
Owner's manual says 5.2 gal as well. (Pg 14)
Based upon having my bike up to 125 and how it was performing I think the 130 is a realisitc top speed for the bike. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Simple, take your SatNav on a plane, show Mr plod that top speed.
OTG As for being beaten in the speed stakes by Jap bikes, you can console yourself in the knowledge that in 10 years time it will still achieve same & not have needed an engine rebuild. _________________ Regards Tim,

My Garmin 2610 recorded this top speed. I posted this before and it was taken as some kind of joke.

My Zumo 550 clocked my '07 HD Road King at 238mph once...

Although fast for a Harley it is still no match for a 300mph Brick. _________________ Scott Hespelt, '94 K11LT
