|
|
Hi Everyone,
In trying to remove my brake pads to get at the pistons for a clean-up, I have found there is no 'keeper' on the retaining pin. Is this normal?
There doesn't seem to be a hole for one either, so I wanted to get this clear before I try to drive the retaining pin out.
What is keeping the pin in place?
Cheers,

The pins have C-clips "built in" them.
I assure you they are quite secure. _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Thanks for your quick response - does this mean I can just tap the pin out then?
Cheers,

Got the pins out and greased pistons (some of which had seized). Used a technique from another forum - detached the end of a standing bicycle pump and attached the tube to the bleeder valve with a worm clip to keep it in place. Used the bleeder valve from the other caliper to block the other hole and removed the pistons one at a time (blocking the other three off). Worked great for me! Thanks for all the advice. Now I only have to manage to bleed the system properly!
Cheers,
