Its a 1985 K100 and its perspex not glass I know but does anyone have experience of replacing it?
Mine's cracked on the rev counter section - it looks like a moulded section but could I guess be carefully cut and a new piece glued in.
Or should I just put my hand in my pocket and buy a new one , assuming they are still available?

Thanks
Steve

I saw a brand new cover with glass for $75 on ebay the other day.

The backing with the numbers on mine buckled and caused the tach needle to stick at 3000 rpm's, I drilled a small hole in left corner the size of a toothpike, colored a toothpike black and stuck it in to push down the backing, it worked, its in there for ever, can't hardly tell.

It's an 85 so be careful buying parts - lots of different lots arethe same.

Some 85 K100s has 7 hole huousings - later Ks have 9 hole. (The number of screws that hold the backplate on.)

If you live near a Tap Plastics or other plastics specialty shop I'll bet they could help you.

The clear acrylic lens is thermo-spot welded onto the inside of the instrument housing.
You can easily drill/grind them out with a dremel.

3mm acrylic sheet is widely available on eBay, or a local hobby store.

The quickest solution may be to find a local woodworker with a very fine toothed bandsaw, and have them cut a new item to the original template.

there was a whole instrument head unit over at IBMWR.org - couldn't you just swap out the housing?
