Thought I'd post some pics. The UGLY red seat is gone, stock wind screen back in place. Drake has the slotted one it came with. Fork gaurds are on, fluids checked and or changed, spark plugs too. Valve clearance still in spec. New rear tire thanks to something sharp & jagged I never felt. Brake pads in the back new as once the rear wheel was off I could see the pads were not thick enough to spread cheese on!
Still looking for a smaller size top box for the back.

Thanks for all the tech posts. Bike has just over 29K on it, got it with just under 25K.

I LOVE THESE K1100RS's

WOW what a huge difference!

Love the all black motif, better wear some bright colors though!

Oooooo you have a black final drive.

Yup!
Much better seat.

All my gear has reflective piping.
Rear brake light has the " Hyper - Light " kit installed. I see people back away ALL the time now.

Really a great looking bike!!!!!! This is what the Knight Rider would ride if he switched to two wheels.

In the US that's an insult. I know David Hasselhoff is hot in Germany and eslewhere in Europe but he's a joke over here.

Jim:

FYI: If you put before and after the links to jpeg files then the pictures show up in the thread and do not appear as links. I went in and added the tags to your post for you 'cuz I"m such a nice guy.

I hope you burned that red seat. Laughing

type in the url to the image. Highlight it and click the IMG button. It'll make the tags for you. Only one link at a time, though.

My deepish apologies, I meant more in reference to the car verses the man. Bottom line, bike looks GOOD!!!!, if I didn't have a red one could easily settle for a black one if it looked like that

They are from " Traxxion " They are actually for some other kind of sport bike.
It's some where in the tech forum. They bolt right on, very easy.
My forks ain't leakin yet & it keeps the junk off that area.

Well worth the $. Sorry I don't remeber how much, but I don't think they were expensive, maybe $19.00?

Did you paint your bike or put something on it to make it shine like that?
I found the guards at traxxion's site, going to order a set.

Thanks, Mike

PostPosted: Mon Aug 18, 2008 9:57 am    Post subject: Paint Reply with quote

Paint is stock, code 620, Graphite, but everyone calls it black, especially at night.
Couple of things I do. Get a clay bar for auto detailing & use that first after washing the bike. This pulls out stuff stuck in the paint. Little bits of road debris & bugs & stuff.
Then use " 3M Imperial Hand Glaze " You can get a bottle at any local auto paint supply store. It ain't cheap, maybe $18.00 but it lasts forever & you can do your car too! Read the instructions & do this after you wash & clay bar the bike.
Then finish with a good qualiy " Carnuba " wax for most any color except white or silver. If you have that color use a synthetic paste wax as the natural Carnuba base has a very slight yellow tint to it. And do not use a cleaner type wax as that's what the clay bar & the 3M product does. Using a cleaner wax won't hurt anything, but it looks glossier if you do not. This methos is especially effective on black paint.
Do this every year, more if you want.
Remeber, you can apply the 3M product when ever you want, but it will not protect the finish very well. What it does best is clean & feed the paint, yes paint dries out to a point it affects the chemical make up and can look duller than it should. The 3M product feeds the paint what has dried out while deeping the shine. AOK to apply wax anytime as well.
