For those of you with UK bikes you can still get keys cut by BMW for your locks even if you have lost the code. I have just found this out and ordered a key as mine is ,how shall we say, past its prime!
Dealer telephone number is 01274 776077
I'll update you on my progress!!! |

That's Allan Jeffries in Keighley (My nearest but one dealer).
What do they know that the other dealers don't ?
The key code specifies the depth of cut at each latch point, without it you would need a database of key vs frame no - is that how it works ?

I just phoned up my local dealer and it said on his BMW computer that all older keys are organized by them!! When I worked for Citroen only one garage dealt with LHD cars-though I only took the one call...
I assume its a supply and demand thing as he said its a while since he has had to do one. Though when I rang another dealer a few months ago I was simply told no can do
I have ordered a spare key as it is only about 5 pounds to see if I still have the original locks!!!
Also I have found out that Aspen Silver touch up is still available so I have ordered some just in case!! |

Forgot to update this
The key cut from the factory was "almost " right -just needed a little adjustment -though if you break panier locks-which I have done!! you can send them a key and they will build a lock cylinder for you _________________ K1100LT SE
