For those of you with UK bikes you can still get keys cut by BMW for your locks even if you have lost the code. I have just found this out and ordered a key as mine is ,how shall we say, past its prime!

Dealer telephone number is 01274 776077

I'll update you on my progress!!! Very Happy

That's Allan Jeffries in Keighley (My nearest but one dealer).
What do they know that the other dealers don't ?

The key code specifies the depth of cut at each latch point, without it you would need a database of key vs frame no - is that how it works ?

Intrigued Wink

I just phoned up my local dealer and it said on his BMW computer that all older keys are organized by them!! When I worked for Citroen only one garage dealt with LHD cars-though I only took the one call...
I assume its a supply and demand thing as he said its a while since he has had to do one. Though when I rang another dealer a few months ago I was simply told no can do Shocked
I have ordered a spare key as it is only about 5 pounds to see if I still have the original locks!!!
Also I have found out that Aspen Silver touch up is still available so I have ordered some just in case!! Laughing

Forgot to update this
The key cut from the factory was "almost " right -just needed a little adjustment -though if you break panier locks-which I have done!! Embarassed you can send them a key and they will build a lock cylinder for you
