Its not a K1100 but i'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction!
My 1985 K100RS starts without using the fast idle lever but once up to temperature idles at 1500rpm.
If i put the bike on the sidestand the idle speed goes up to 2000 rpm.Have I got 2 different issues , one being the idle needs adjusting when its hot so that it will need the fast idle to start and the sidestand issue is cable related , or are both things connected?
Thanks

1- check your valve clearances
2-adjust your injectors using a carb balancer
3-adjust your CO
then all should be well |

There's an idle adjuster screw that you're not supposed to touch, with locknuts. The most probable reason for the "Don't touch" ruling is that they keep working loose, leading to much backfiring and the engine dying. Don't be afraid to adjust it, as long as you're going to get the engine balanced soon. You can reach it through the fairing - I know this because I developed an intimate relationship with mine on the K100RT.
As always, YMMV.. _________________ 1992 K1100RS - Red and gold. |

hard to tell without the bike in front of me about the sidestand but the bike should switch off with it down.... |

Should stop the motor IF the bike is stock. I intalled the bypass switch on mine so bike runs with the sidestand down. 1993 K1100RS
Got the part number from the forums here. It was a pricey $15.75 item, but now my wiring harness is still stock and clean. I often have to stop to drop off a letter in the PO box, take back a mvoie rental ect. & I like to just leave the bike idel without having to put it on the ceneter stand.
Just trained myself to check it everytime. _________________ 1993 K1100RS that I'd rather be riding FAST!
