As part of my job, I ended up at Head Protection Evaluations of Farnham in Surrey. Brian Walker (73), the owner, has been testing crash helmets since the sixties. Originally a Snell Memorial foundation tester, he's seen it all. I had a great time chatting away with him, and learnt a hell of a lot about the various standards that have come and gone. Anyway, I took a few pics that start with this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/81929179@N00/2593452280/

A real eye opener! Shocked

Not sure what to make of the helmet testing stuff, but the other pictures on your Flikr acct are amazing!

Love the Germany stuff....I share your sentiment about the transportation system there...I was blown away at how efficient and cheap it was.

Beautiful country.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed them!

The significance to me of the helmet testing place is that every helmet made for sale in the UK was tested there to get its BS mark until 2000, and he was the one that did it. Ah well, maybe a bit trainspotter-ish, but I was pretty blown away.
