I would think that any good body shop or major autoparts supplier(that sells paint) should be able to mix some paint using your existiing paint code.
Granted you might have to buy more than just a "touch up" tube, some can mix down to 1/2 pint, but you might try that route. _________________ Ride safe.

The number is the color, what I need is the formula to mix that color. _________________ 95 K1100RS

Just take a part to someone who uses the PPG paint-matching computer. Amazing technology. I had my K100RS fairing and tank repainted. The guy matched a side cover wit hthe PPG stuff. The paint was a graphite metallic with little tiny green and purple flecks in it. When I put the tank and side covers on the paint was a perfect match.
With tred you might have fading issues. IF you do, touch up would be too bright. If you use the PPG technology it will match - but there's a chance they'll fade form hereo nout at different rates. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

658 is not a paint code, but a scheme code.
In BMW speak, this includes the main body colour, any contrast panels plus pinstripes.
Your best reference is :
http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/paintcodes/reds.htm
The body colour you need is BMW 222 - Marakech Red
Your dealer is too stupid, or too lazy to look this up
I ordered a genuine touch up kit for a '75 R90S in 510 Daytona Orange, about 12 months ago. It arrived within 3 days - It CAN be done.
Personally, I would not give those ass**les a penny.
Find a good local paint shop, and ask for a touch up of 222 Marakech Red (or 250ml if you do your own spraying - this will make up to 500ml when thinned correctly)

Chopper,
U.S. dealers can no longer order BMW paint! The correct paint was made by Glasurit, which is now under the BASF umbrella. About 10 years ago or so, we could not order the spray cans, I think some were even DupliColor. The paint sticks were taken out about 5 years ago from coming into the country although BMW already had many of the colors in various warehouses state side.
JR,
I ll check and see if I still have an old paint stick in stock when I go into work on Monday, if I have it you can have it just pay the shipping. _________________ Dom |
