They both look like 16 valve K100's.

Both nice bikes in their own rights. Pity they are in the States as I wouldn't mind one myself.

Yes, they are 16v models with ABS and lower profile tires. I believe 1989-92 were 16v and '92 was the last production year for the K100RS. Not much difference from a K1100RS, obviously K11's (1993+) have 100 more cc's and a sleaker lower fairing.

By the way, the K100RS special I think was introduced in 1988 and - someone correct me if I'm wrong - was 16v and pioneered ABS I. ABS II was introduced on K11 in 1995...I believe.

I don't know how you aussies ride...somehow in down under land the forces of gravity keep you on the ground eventhough you are riding upside down. You people amaze me! Smile

Yep, The K100RS4V was the first ABS.

ABS II came out in 1994 - but you were close. Razz

Specifically, the '94 model year bikes (which began to ship in Sept/Oct 1993).

It is always worth checking the frame number - this gives you the build date rather than the registration date of any Beemer.

On K bikes, sixth & seventh digits = week number; eighth & ninth digits = year of manufacture; the final four digits = sequential production number.

Old stock tends to hang around the dealer when a new model year is announced Wink
