My bike is a '93 K11RS. All last summer I dealt with a flashing ABS light while I rode. I finally got around to the diagnostic test and read an 1133...No signal from Hall Sensor #2. At first I was curious about this result, because the bike had performed fine all along and never showed signs of trouble.

Recently, I came upon a message where the poster described this condition....

"Last summer while riding the bike down a dirt road at 20-25 mph for about 7-8 miles the engine died suddenly when I stopped to ask directions. When I tried to start it it would not start. The bike would crank just fine but it would not start. About 45 minutes later it started and ran fine for a couple of thousand miles on that trip without a hitch. "

This happened to me also. Does this correlate with the Hall Sensor #2 fault? If so, is the sensor located under the timing cover? Is this major surgery to access/replace?

I would appreciate the wisdom of those who've dealt with this. Thank you.

I have been dealing with that (bleep) flashing ABS light myself. From what I have read, the engine management computer and the ABS brain function completely separate from each other.

Perhaps we both will learn from the experts here.

No,
There is no correlation between the Hall Sensor and the ABS. The Motronic and the ABS are NOT connected.
1133 (if you read through the diagnostic notes) can be a spurious error. If the #2 sensor was failing, you would not have spark from cylinders 2&3. That would be pretty obvious. Did you check to see what your ABS thought was failing? http://k11og.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2110

Thanks Mick. Now I'm questioning whether I read a Motronic code or an ABS code. I'll review the ABS procedure again, lift that code and report back.

Avidfan,

I have the same issue currently. I put my 93' RS back together from the winter updates and the same thing is happening to me, same faults. My ABS is blinking and the triangular light in the middle of the counsil, they are blinking together. I performed the suggestions that are recommended and my Motronic faults went off with a 4444 output - no faults stored. I tried the ABS fault codes and I couldn't get anything to read correctly. I don't know if I'm performing the test correctly. I tried to reset the system also and I don't know if I accomplished this or not. Please let me know how your doing to get rid of the irritating flashing.

I've had my `93 LT for less than two weeks and have "reset" the (flashing) ABS a few times now. (Grounding the middle wire and holding down the ABS button) I was warned about the a low battery being the cause. 12.7V off, and 14+V reved up.


I'm ready to put a pushbutton switch under the left panel because I don't think my Interstate battery is old at 3yrs. Starts just fine. I have to remember the radio is still on with the key still in the ignition. I'm not used to locking bars and removing ignition keys..........ever.

Yeah, try reseting it first, that works a good percentage of the time. If that fails and you can live without ABS, some black electrical tape makes a fine fit over those bloody annoying flashing red lights.

Mike,
Have you got a fault code? Low voltage faults on ABS-I bikes are not nearly as common as on ABS-II bikes.
