Good news and bad news.
Good news first:
1. I just got a new job, great pay, great hours (830-430) union job, full benefits, occasional weekend. The type of job that gives me a ton of autonomy....home care coordinator for home care patients. None of "the man" looking over my shoulder every second, and after a while I should be able to do it by bike.
The actual start date in April 14th. Due to this, I will not be able to attend Hungry Mother. (I put this in good news, well because for some of you it might be good news)
I am not real comfortable with requesting time off from a job that is a month old, and I will definitely need Thurs-Fri off in order to make the 10+ hr drive down there.
Bad news:
1. I will not be able to make it to Hungry Mother. (for those of you who wanted to see me. )
I believe I have a cabin reserved for the wife and I, and like any man worth his salt I will remain good to my word and pay for the cabin.
I would be more than happy to sell it to someone else however
I am at the same time both elated and bummed. Elated that I landed a mint job in the middle of a recession, and bummed because this was one rally I really wanted to go to.
In any case, have a great time, and don't forget to take lots of pictures!
(Dom to PM me and let me know how much I owe) _________________ Bane of your existence since July 2006

Good for you. I had a chance at a "union job" once. But it was like the Godfather in reverse - they made me an offer I couldn't accept. Apparently, in my field anyway, the union only diminishes our perceived value to "the man."
And count me as one of the disappointed. The gathering at Hungry Mother, while I expect to still be worthwhile, will definitely be less "spirited" without your presence.
That's as sentimental as I'm going to get.
Good luck with that new endeavor. _________________ tlp
