Fuse slots 8,9 and 10 are empty, however there are no fuse holders in those spaces. My o.m. says "Special equipment option" heated grips, seat etc... but shows no spare. Can circuits be added. Part # would help.

Thanks, Michael

Michael, I've watched this thread since you posted it hoping someone would answer with useful information. Have you picked up ideas you can share?

Thanks, James

You can add fuses there but what you need is the right female blade connectors that have a tang that will hold them in the fuse slots. Jim Daivs (of Eastern Beaver fame) stocks these I believe.

I think the ".305" Female Spade Terminal - $0.35 ea" will do the trick.

Look here: http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Terminals/terminals.html

I"m going to be adding some mods to my K75 project bike in the next couple of weeks and can report back on whether this does the tirck or not.

Another option is to add an aux fuse block (about $5-10) next to the factory fuses:

#13: Since it's never used, I replaced the ABS switch and moved it to that hole in the frame. (The three slots in the dash are now for heated grips, hazards and driving lights.)

#14: I made an aluminum plate and painted it black to cover the coils.

More details on the mods to that bike listed here:

If you use the female plug, where do you pick up the power? Also is it difficult to get in behind the fuse block?

Mike - look here for some ideas on adding electrical stuff. You don't have to order from Jim - but he does ship promptly - and uses only high quality materials: http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/Fuseboxes/fuseboxes.html

Jim no longer stocks the aux fuse blocks that I use. The one I use is a great fit for K bikes as you can see. I got my first one from Jim for my LT but I had to get the RS one somewhere else since he stopped carrying those. IF you want to find one of those, let me know and I can help track one down for you.

I think the idea of using the unused factory slots is a better alternative though - and I'll be trying that route on my project bike soon.

Someody emailed me about this. Here are the fuse blocks I use which can be mounted next to the factory fuse block and are a darn good fit for K bikes.

Got to this site:
http://www.wiringproducts.com/index1.html

Click "Fuses and Accessories" on the left sidebar

Then click on Fuse Blocks

Look for AF-RFB4 (That holds four fuses. I don't think the six fuse model is small enough to fit where I put mine.) If you need more than 4 circuits, just group some of the lower amp ones together. For example, on my RS I have the power for the cruise control and GPS power coming from the same fuse.

Not only will this fit on your bike much better than a $50 Centech fuse block but it only costs a whopping $6! Cheap is good.

OK, I needed another fuse and my aux fuse box is full. So I figured out how to use the empty slots at the bottom of the factory fuse block. The key is to have the right connectors to shove in from the back. I ripped apart an old wiring harness from a K100 and yanked the wires and terminals out of the old fuse block. Then I pulled out my K1100RS fuse block and shoved them in from the back.
