I have had this problem about once every 2 months. The bike (93 K11RS) stalls, usually at a stop, then won't start. As the engine turns over when I try to restart tons of smoke comes out the exhaust. Eventually the engine catches, runs rough for 10 sec then is back to normal. It usually takes 3-4 min to restart. Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks,
Beau

It smells like oil. The same as when it's been on the side-stand for a couple weeks.

Sounds like oil fouling one of the cylinders - dunno why - and so killing off the spark in both paired cylinders on that coil; have you pulled the spark plugs and checked what they look like? (especially as soon after this happens as you can, so you get a "real" picture of the amount of oil at failure, not under the otherwise normal running)

bluish smoke is oil.....

have you checked the plugs when it happens? is one or all fouled??

you need to determine what cylinder or cylinders are affected.
is oil getting in from the air box??

it might likely be a valve guide seal or a ring if just one cylinder.......it doesnt take much oil to cause a mess.

how is the compression??
