Actually went for a ride last Sunday to meet up with the 'new' crowd.

I keep trying to think of reasons why I really wouldn't be happy to join such a crowd...but all is cognitive dissonance.

Got a late ride in during December of 2006, but not this year. Considered a ride to the C-store to top off the tank last week, but after closer inspection of the road conditions (70% ice-covered at 12 degrees F), decided not to try it.

Fortunately, for some reason I had enough extra gas cans around to throw in the cage and gather the required four gallons of 91 octane. A little Sea Foam and a couple minutes of idling and I plugged the charger into the accessory outlet. Wrote the mileage on the garage wall - just over 10,400 miles since last December.

Then...one last longing, sorrowful look, pulled the cover over and turned off the garage light. Crying or Very sad

I never put mine up. There's too many 20-30-40 degree riding days during winters here. I might miss a week or 2 at a time when it's too icy, but that's what the battery tender Jr. is for Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Ice/wet roads with salt residual is the only things that keep me from riding other than active snow or rain.

Was a great day here in NY, clipped off like 60 miles doing errands. (taking the long way of course.)

Had the DR out Sunday. 8-10" of fresh snow and 23'F.

It was a lot less fun than I though it would be. The belly pan dragged in the deep snow, and the traction coefficient, without studs, was too low for any good accell or decell!

The K is out, at any temp, when there is no salt. The DR I ride on eves and weekends, and to work if the roads are not icy and the temp is over 30'F or so...

15w-40 and no electric start makes for some pretty good one-legged jumping jacks!

Riding keeps me nearly sane!

Glad to see someone is buying new the K1200.

Should be able to afford a used one in 4-5 years.

Hope they age as well as the K100/K1100 series.

I ride 12 months a year, but I live in California, so it's not so far a stretch as it would be for many of the other folk here...

I ride year round. Minus snow and ice as I've no skills on the white stuff and have no desire to crash anymore. Crying or Very sad

I like being the only bike on the road for 100's miles. I rode yesterday 600 miles in 17F-35F and saw only one other bike. A beautiful deep red Harley Davidson. I know many people like to trash HD and their pilots, but the "Old School" riders are fooking hard core. :bow

from 76 to 82 i worked in downtown indianapolis... directly across the street from the only local hd shop at the time...

there was a white bearded older rider with a white full fared bagger who worked there for many years... i would see him coming and going on that old hd at 100 degrees with rain and 0 degrees with snow and everything in between...

he left an impression within my brain...
