I just acquired a Corbin seat for my K11LT and I would like to add a backrest. Can anyone show me the mount/bracket needed under the seat. I wrote Corbin and they replied:

The K1100 LT used the front bracket from the stock saddle
We do not supply bracket on this set up

Thanks for any info you may have,
Jer

That response makes no sense.

On some Corbin seats the "channel" for the passenger backrest square rod is internal to the seat.

On others this bracket is bolted to the underside of the seat. (Probably what you're looking for.)

Here's what a non-rusty one looks like:

Corbin used to make a backrest that fit on the 35 liter top case:

Thank you so much for your time and attention to my post, but I'm really looking out for my comfort Smile, not the pillion. Just behind the rider seat is a flap that opens so a Backrest can be added. I'm looking for how that backrest post is supported on the bottom of the saddle by bracket/mount.

Thanks again,
Jer

For the front backrest there's usually just a square metal tube under the flap to insert the backrest. Does yours not have that?

If you post up some pics of what you've got that would help.

These pix show where Corbin post should attach to a bracket. Under the seat flap (top of seat, behind rider) there is just unpunctured foam. So, there doesn't;'t appear that a backrest was ever installed, but the location can be used.

I found a picture of the bracket, now I need to find one. Any help in that regard would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Now that you have that picture why not send it to Corbin and see how they respond?

Don't expect much though. As you've already seen, Corbin support can be flaky.

I suppose the alternative would be to have one fab'd at a local welding shop.

I found a bracket for the Canyon Dual seat on the Corbin web site and they sell the hardware, too. Not sure what it is as there aren't any pictures. I wrote them and asked "Backrest support hardware is required, order part #OPL for the rider's position..." is this the needed bracket for the Canyon seat? Not sure if OPL is a generic term for the rider bracket, in general.

Thanks,
Jer

If you do order one from Corbin then I'd recommend measuring/confirming the spacing of the mounting holes before buying one.

The most detail I could get out of them was that it did have four holes for mounting screws and it's the hardware they've used for many years. It was for the Canyon Dual Sport saddle for
1986-1997 BMW K75, K100 & K1100 with part #OPL. Seems that it is generic to all Corbin for BMW seats. I bought it. We'll see.

Thanks,
Jer

Not sure why they insisted on selling the #OPL, as it has an angle component to it that isn't much use, but here it all is:

Thanks for all the help/support. Really appreciate it!

Thanks for the follow-up pics.

FYI: If you want to cut off the "useless" part you can use a grinder or if you have a 10" table saw then you can buy a cut-off wheel for it:

I have both. Good suggestion, especially if there's a fitment issue. I won't be installing the seat for a couple weeks, yet. I was also thinking of mounting something like an under seat bicycle pack, but the bike has a lot of storage without it.

Thanks!
Jer
