I have an R240 Reynolds Rack, question if I cut the tabs off it, can it be made to fit a K1100?

I'm pretty sure that a 240 RR won't fit a K1100 (or K100RS4V).

Here's why:

In order to accommodate the "hump" at the paralever final drive pivot, the rear of the K1100 peg plates is stepped out. When BMW did this they also pushed the tops of the Z rack mounts out some. As you can see in the picture below, the K75/K100 the Z racks mount at points A & B that are roughly below the middle of the frame loop whereas A & B on a K11 are moved out to the side.

Here's a picture of a 240 RR:

If you cut off the point A tabs then the rear of the 240 RR MIGHT fit at the rear but there's no point C on the K1100 frame.

I think point D would line up on a K1100 frame but am not 100% certain

The 241 RR for the K1100 has a tab with a hole in it sticking out at a right angle that mounts in between point B and the top front of the right Z rack. I don't have a pic of a 241 RR but here's my crude "artist's rendering" of point B on a 241 RR. Laughing

Hope that helps.

I have a good idea for what to do with that 240 Reynolds Rack: Buy a K75RT to put it on. Laughing

Another rack that can be used on K bikes is the Givi E180:
