After long rides on the RS I was having arm aches and knee aches. The crouching position just did not suit my aging, and to be fair, very beat up joints any more.
So I sold my beloved RS. I owned it for 18 years and about 75,000 miles. It sat for a year due to corona virus uncertainty. But I got the itch, you know the "new bike" itch. I was getting really itchy. So I started looking. There was a very nice Kawasaki Concours on craigslist and I set up an appointment to go look at it. But someone else got there first and that bike was gone.
So I look at craigslist again. Well, do you know, right here in my home town is a 1997 K1100LT, about 1/2 mile away. So I know the engine, I know K bikes in general. I went and looked, and well bought it. I do not have it yet, I put a deposit down, and as soon as my income tax check come in I will go get it. (Yes, my BIL does my taxes, he takes his time, but he does great work and got us a lot back, so it works out).
Now, about that stereo.... _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Well, me too. Selling.
Our house is sold and will soon be moving to our "retirement" home in Pa.
The garage space is significantly smaller, so one of my two bikes has to go.
Made the tough decision sell my '92 K100RS. It has been good to me, other than the driveshaft disaster 300 miles from home on my way to HM.
But otherwise it carried me from NYC to SF in 46 hours along with lots of multi-day trips. One memorable trip to HM with our daughter who was riding her ZX6R.
So I'll be down to just the R1100S. _________________ John & Cathy

It's awesome. You can go buy some cassettes (do they still sell those?) and do your own mix tapes.
I installed a digital head unit with a marine remote on the handlebars.
I can watch Easy Rider while I'm riding.

Update????
I had set a time to meet a guy who was very interested in my K.
Took a ride on it and called him back. I just can’t sell it. Too many great miles on it for me (actually great km since it is Canadian spec and a metric speedo/odo)
I think Jim Vaughn said it right- this bike is a keeper.
Back 12 or so years ago I sold a ‘93 1100RS and regretted it later. Sometimes I occasionally learn by past stupidity. I’m learning...... _________________ John & Cathy

John, Let me know when you get to PA. We can do a little K11 gathering. I am planning on riding the Blue Ridge Parkway this summer, I never made an HM event, too close to the end of the school year for me to take off, but every time I rode by the park on a trip I thought about it. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Hey John- we should get together and ride. I'll be 2-1/2 hours northeast of you when we move to Milford Pa.

Not right now! Almost all the stuff we have moved down there already is in the garage. Trying to keep the house somewhat empty so I'm not moving crap around when I start renovating in the fall.
Loaded my Titan lift table onto the MC trailer today. That and one bike are heading to Pa on Friday night. _________________ John & Cathy

I can only hope the writer of this post is joking! Riding and watching television at the same time, then he needs to go and get medical help voluntarily. If not he will get medical help in an emergency when he crashes and finishes up in hospital, possibly accompanied by some other poor unfortunate he hurts in the process. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I am sure he is joking. I have decided to stream off of my phone and ditch the stereo completely. But thanks for the advice. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

I wanted to get a head unit that would read USB flash drives and SD cards since the prior head unit which used MP3 CDs was dated technology. Now I have access to GBs of music at my fingertips and do not have to deal with carrying around a bunch of CDs and swapping them when I want to listen to something else.
The head unit with a display was only a couple of bucks more so I bought it as a novelty. I obviously don't ride around while watching movies. That said, there are some movies that I will run since listening to the soundtrack and not watching the movie works fine. (Like The Holy Grail, Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Update #2
Hey John- we are in Pa. to stay. Moved 3 weeks ago and slowly sifting through lots of boxes.
Maybe late this month or in August we can meet and ride. I need to get on a bike soon! While I usually get 10-12,000 miles/year, I don't think I have 300 so far. _________________ John & Cathy

OK, here just over 3 weeks and finally getting the (right side only) garage a bit organized.
Jen- our California daughter for those who haven't met her- is here for a week and has been a FORCE in whipping the garage into shape.
Yeah Jim, 2 bikes fit on my side since the truck can't get in there.
Just don't look at Cathy's side where her VW will be parked....eventually. _________________ John & Cathy

I am up to meet I am going on a riding trip down the Blue Ridge Parkway leaving on 8/7 getting back on the 11th or 12th. School starts again on the 19th, but that only rules out weekdays.
