Audi sent me a couple of these spark plug boosters he couldn't use. WOW! What a difference!
These can't be used if the ignition system has been updated - which it has on the (crashed) R100RT.
"This kit comprises one stainless steel booster insert, and one spark plug, so two kits are required per bike.
An innovation from Scriminger Engine Developments. At Motorworks we avoid gimmicks, but the pulse jet ignition modification really does the job. The spark occurs inside a small chamber screwed into the normal spark plug hole in the head. When the gases in the chamber are ignited by the spark plug the burning gases then exit at high speed through several holes in the chamber making ignition of the main body of gas much quicker and more thorough.
10 to 20 percent more power
Better economy
Smoother running engine"

Although they're not cheap, I think they are totally worth it. I'll buy 3 of them for the K75RTP - if it ever gets finished... _________________ Jim

From the looks of the images, the extension extends into the cylinder deeper than a standard plug...

So far, so good.

Looks like the K1100 is specifically excluded. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Yes. So this does what the chip does with the Motronic tables? _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Not sure what all that Motronic chip is supposed to do... can you tell a difference?
Although they make plug adapters for the K1, K75, and K100, the jet pulse really shines when installed on the 2 cylinder carbureted engines. Faster and more complete combustion. More power, better mileage.
Not sure I'll know anything at all about what the adapters do for the K75 - although I had one back in the late 90's, I've never ridden the one that's being rebuilt now (for almost 5 years - go figure). _________________ Jim

There is no programming as such in the Motronic as it doesn't have a programmable CPU. What the chip contains is a number of tables that define what the Motronic should do under various conditions of operation of the bike. The chip I bought was made by a person who specializes in this (and I bet he used to work for Motronic). I most certainly notice the difference; first thing i noticed is that the downrating of the engine was removed. fuel consumption is better (noticeable, but not so much that you can skip fuel stations). _________________ To err once is human. Yeah - I just read through the ebay listing again. Seems like the plug adapters sort of do mechanically what the chip does electronically. Better combustion, more power.
Hopefully will get in a few more rides and get a better feel for what's going on. Yesterday was the first ride - I was impressed. The old R took off like a veritable rocket. _________________ Jim
