I'm open to suggestions as to what could have fried a motronic unit and relay?
I could have been ham- fisted with the battery etc. The charger can switch between settings- motorcycle/ car/ cold charging. It could have caused a spike whilst switching. |

I've been charging my battery while it is on the bike and connected ever since I bought the bike. No problems here, and I have a charger just like yours. And chargers are simple technology, inherently inexpensive. I think you just blew a relay, and carrying spares is always a good idea. _________________ To err once is human. The motronic unit blew as well, though. Would blowing a relay also blow the Motronic unit? _________________ "If you wanted an easy life, why do you own an old bike?"

I just asked Murphy. He just nodded and cracked another beer. _________________ To err once is human. To do so repeatedly is incompetence.

Ah, yes. I've come across that guy too, on rather more than one occasion. He does tend to lay down the law unfortunately.
Cheers. _________________ "If you wanted an easy life, why do you own an old bike?"

Gentlemen, I too am having issues with my 1996 K11 LTse not starting. On center stand, side stand up. Ignition turns on, lights on dash come up as per normal. Fuel pump activates, starter engages and turns over .... then nothing!
I was attempting to test Hall sensor but as all 4 plugs have no spark, mas heading to the coolant sensor behind radiator. Sensor reads 1.8h (20k setting on multi-meter) when cold (?) Is this correct? as I cannot find readings anywhere. Reading above I see there are some other things to check IE motronic earth, relay...but for now I have the machine empty of coolant and the temp sensor at hand. Any suggestions, ohm values or prayers?? _________________ 1975 Honda Goldwing GL1000 cafe

Just tossing this out there...
I had a similar problem with starting. I eventually discovered a short in the four pin connector from the fuel tank to the bikes main electrics. It's located along the frame rail just behind the tank and under the seat.
It's very possible when you were working on the Motronic you tugged it. Don't ask me how I know this... _________________ '20 R1250RS - The RS
