Shogs is gonna kill me, after all the work she's put into this bike.

But it's draining me financially to carry maintenance & insurance on 2, and with the KLR getting better mileage, and being much newer, the BMW has to go.

52,439 miles (41,091 showing, PO changed an odometer at 11,348 on 2-4-91)

In the last 18 months, it's had a pile of maintenance done.

Spring 2010:
steering head bearings replaced (new)
front master cylinder replaced (reconditioned unit from the boneyard)
front rotors replaced (NOS, ebay)
throttle cable replaced (new)
fuel cap replaced (boneyard)
switchgear replaced (boneyard)

Summer 2011:
water/oil pump rebuilt (new seals and honed shaft)
clutch replaced (new)
main engine seal replaced (new)
transmission seal replaced (new)
rear fairing replaced (scored from Duck's shop in Seattle)

Tires replaced last fall, about 50% condition... Dunlop 404's.

All fluids (FD, splines, trans, oil, and radiator) are recent, and I have a box of 5 filters sitting here for the oil. As noted in the other ad, I also have the original shock (Fox installed presently) and muffler (Supertrapp in place). I have a pile of documentation on the bike, a second weathered windscreen, and removable passsenger backrest for the Sargent seat.

It's the full RT fairing, excellent protection against weather, keeps your legs warm in cool riding conditions.

Paint is the dark green on the front half, the rear has been progressing to a rather nice application of matte black rattlecan, but looks nice imho.

I'm asking $2500, but among friends I'm willing to compromise a little - I need to move it.

Known issues are limited to the funky speedo issue that plagues all old K's, and intermittant issues with the gear indicator. There's one odd bolt on the rear brake caliper, from an emergency replacement that hasn't had to be replaced with stock hex heads yet. Otherwise it's in perfect running order, and does (if I may say so) go like stink.

(fog lights are coming off - they keep blowing the fuse in their current wiring, anyway)

Take my bike, please.

:cry

Sorry to hear but totally understand - at only $2,500 that should go fast!

Still available.

I rode it today for the first time in a while, since I finally got my plate back from the Phillps Luxury Garage and Media Epicenter.

God, this bike is fast. At least compared with the KLR. I actually scared myself on it, hitting the ton without really thinking about it, or what was downrange too hard, on my favorite stretch of easily-speeding interstate. It sounds so powerful, so smooth, I hated myself again for trying to get rid of it.

But in my case, sans garage, with a canvas bag of hand tools, anything beyond an oil change is getting to be an epic journey of borrowed shops, tools, and expertise. I just can't handle it anymore. Maybe if I move someday to a place where I can equip a proper man-cave, I'll get another one, but right now the KLR can be fixed with baling wire and a pair of pliers, on the side of the interstate, without out so much as a Clymer. That is the bike for me, for now.

But damn it felt good to just fly for a couple miles.

Bump. It ended up wintering over, but now that Spring has Sprung, I'm looking to move the beast. Any takers?
