Hello all,
My K11LT (1997) needs new brake hoses. I got a new set of Stainless steel lines. I am trying to figure out how to bleed the brakes once I install the new lines. Are there instructions somewhere that I can read?

You will find that the use of a hand operated vacuum bleeder, or one that works off air pressure (Uses an inflated tyre as the pressure source at around 25- 30psi). Either will do the job very well. Just tape back the brake levers and let the air do the work.
If there is a persistent point air gets trapped, there are two bleed nipples on top of the modulator marked front and rear (in German unfortunately). I have never had to use them but they are there if need be.
Motobins supplied the lines for my R1100Rs and I ordered them as a kit for the specific bike and they made them up for me as the set. Because I had ordered a full set they also gave me a good discount too! _________________ 1997 K1100LT

Understanding and leveraging gravity works better than a pressure bleeder. Letting air bubbles float to the top works better than trying to force things.
I've tried both and my pressure bleeder never gets used. _________________ 93 LT (x2)

One tip from an independent engineer if you are replacing the hoses and the system is completely drained it is also good practise to strip the master cylinder as well.
Over time corrosion will build up at the open end of the cylinder and working the lever over the full stroke could allow the seals to possibly run over this rough corrosion and damage the lip of the seal. _________________ 1997 K1100LT

This happened to me when bleeding the brakes in an auto. On my bikes I try to never press the lever past about 1/2 of the way from the points 1) I feel pressure when pulling the lever and 2) the handlebar. Each stroke doesn't get much fluid drained, but hopefully it will avoid damaging the master cylinder.
Also, many years ago I ordered a Speigler kit of lines through Tom Cutter for the K11RS and it came with incorrect lengths of lines. Maybe Speigler has corrected this by now. I suggest you measure your lines and verify what is in their kit.
