I have presently been riding a KTM. I am toying with the idea of buying 2 Bikes a dedicated trail bike and a sport tourer for commuting/long rides. I need advise if there is any specific years to avoid in getting these models? |

So since you are thinking of a sport touring bike, an RS?
Having had 3 different K-RS bikes (1994, 1993 and currently a 1992) my own preference is '93 down to '90. Those have ABS-1 which in my opinion is easier to work on. The '92 to '90 have the engine exposed, less bodywork.
Others will have differing opinions for sure. _________________ John & Cathy

ABS 1 on K bikes are the easiest to bleed and easy to pick out of a lineup. From the side the bike will have a black horizontal cylinder on each side below the battery covers. The bleed nipple is right there, nothing to remove. On any old bike be ready to replace the brake lines with stainless and do a complete flush of the system.
K1100RS is a neat bike to ride. There are still a lot out there, try to find one that's been maintained, and the brain trust here will help you with all of the routine stuff. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled
