You should try REAL cruise control on a K. After radial tires, it's the first thing I install on all of my Ks.
The best unit for it is the Audiovox CCS-100 (The Rostra electronic one works too but is jerkier)
Audiovox doesn't make the CCS-100 anymore but about one a week shows up on Ebay - usually in the $180-$250 range. It's very easy to install on a K1100.
On 94+ K1100LTs I recommend using the windscreen switch for the cruise control and a dash switch for the windscreen.

I agree with FD.
I did a 50CC (NYC to SF) on my '92 K100RS with an electronic CC (Audiovox).
On dead flat roads, a throttle lock is OK. But ride some roads that have some elevation change? No good. _________________ John & Cathy
