The bolt that holds the FD to the torsion bar broke or fell out.
Dead in the water.
Can someone call me at 803-640-9544 and tell me what size bolt that is so maybe I can find a replacement at Lowes. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore

Could you stick the screwdriver shaft from the tool kit through the final drive and bar? And them wrap it in tape to hold it in. _________________ 2014 R1200RT Water Cooled

Or find a 3/8 bolt at a hardware store and limp it to a dealer or nut/bolt supply store with the right metric bolt. (Make sure your final solution is a bolt with adequate shear strength.) _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Having met you IRL, you seem like a nice person.
Why are you so flippin' hard on your poor little K bikes? _________________ 93 LT (x2)

Thanks all, even you Duck!
I was on the side of I-81 for 5 hours, then when help arrived with a bolt, the battery was dead. I was w/i site of an exit and we pushed it into a gas station parking lot. That was close to midnight.
We went to his house in Rock Mount VA, and the next morning, we tried for 30 min to get it to start. Finally I must have blown a fuse, because no lights would come on at all when the key was turned.
I had to leave it there because I had to get home in time for work.
It's still there, I hope. I'll be able to go get it tomorrow.
OBTW..I think I caused this to happen 2 years ago when I had to replace the drive shaft in the hotel parking lot.
I never went back to check to specs that may have called for blue thread lock.

It should be one of those "smushed" locknuts and not require any Loctite. All it should need is to be torqued to spec. 43 Nm or 32 ft-# _________________ 93 LT (x2)

As a fellow K11OG member said (just under two years ago) when I was stopped on the side of 81 with a bike that wouldn't start: "Call your towing service."
That was when I was 45 minutes from my destination - with about 5 tow vehicles and 5 trailers sitting around...
Good times, eh? _________________ Jim

Steve and I brought it home today.
All fixed.
Actually it was a blown starter relay, blown fuse and dead battery.
Good times. Bad times. It's time above ground so I'm ok with it. _________________ 1993 K1100RS aka The Shop Whore
