Radiator Cap Failure What's that smell??? The K11 seems to have a problem with the radiator caps leaking, allowing coolant to run down the right side of the bike. This may be difficult to detect because, especially with the K1100RS, the coolant fill cap is located under the lip of the gas tank and overflow is directed down the airbox. If you seem to be losing radiator fluid, check inside the right fairing for the chalky-white residue of dried coolant. Should you have this problem, ask the shop to pressure test the cap as the failure may not be immediately evident. If the cap is in good shape, check the rubber overflow pipe running from the cap neck to behind the right-hand footpeg. The overflow hose, particularly at the junction where the hose meets the neck, is prone to cracking and splitting. |
